Science, Experiment, and the failure of Reality.

Post by Lost Leopard Spot » Wed Mar 27, 2019 3:15 pm

Currently being driven along at speed not commensurate with feelings of comfort by my missus.
To take my mind off things I tried to read last chapter of the book I brought along, but now feeling motionsick...
:vomit:
However I need something other to think about...
But, we don't seem to have a way forward.
No! I'm not talking Ken and the Great Sell Off. Nor Theresa and the Great Betrayal! I'm talking the Grand Unified Theory and the latest failure to find supersymmetry in nature.
Any thoughts?
That's not a leopard!

At such times I usually see how many Rubaiyatt quatrains I can remember or recreate a mental Jane Austen Novel. It works fine.. :D

It seems to me, Young Spotty, that it will be a great step forward in achieving Grand Unified Theory if we can indeed discover supersymmetry. Perhaps we have. You might find the following interesting:

Or, you may not.

I have found supersymmetry.

It's just a state of mind.

Having watched the video Monty, I begin to realise why I read Jane Austen and pray at night. 8)

It's a bit complex, Tango, and the physicists can't all agree - so they are not that much further ahead than the Vatican. In one discussion of the beginning of the universe (there are differing views), they left the last word to those of the religious persuasion. Here it was said: "Once there was nothing. Then someone said 'Let there be light'. Afterwards there was still nothing, but now they could see it."

Yes very interesting.

I'm not convinced that that (ice cube) has discovered anything. It has recorded events, but events without specific parameters or energy measurements.
The so-called Stau could have been an FRB hit on a water molecule - that would be omnidirectional, and give the same/similar signal - for instance.
Also the lack of Susy at LHC plus the lowering of energy level possibilities to below 2 TeV from the LEP can't just be dismissed because of a couple of high energy Tau events.

Ok.
The standard model is incomplete.
Supersymmetry is unproven and therefore probably wrong.
Gravity is having a hard time being quantised.
A theory of everything is nowhere near.
Unification of quantum theory and general relativity has got nowhere.
Inflation is just a mathematical concept, that has no known parameters.
Quantum theory is just bollocks.
String theory is even bigger bollocks.
There is no such thing as the Multiverse (except for those with Faith).
Infinity does not exist. Not even in maths.

We need to start again ...

When I say we need to start again, I don't mean to just ditch what it is we have learnt. Omar was good enough in the eleventh century, and can even be relevant in the twenty first. But, it's no longer a matter of faith and opinion. We have forged a better tool. We are unfortunately failing to weild it properly.

Indeed, and all the Omars' ever eventually reach a point where they are forced to admit : "I just don't know". Start again with what? Mankind get usually less than a hundred years to prove anything and nobody has yet found the elixer of life.
One way it may be part explainable for me is using the Yin/Yang theory which is pretty provable to exist in terms of right and wrong, good and evil. The wrong and evil are all around us and crime is happening a thousand fold even as we speak, sometimes resulting in massive obliteration of life, yet the good is minor by comparison and right, in many cases, is but a word to express domination or personal opinion. Why then, you might ask, does God not reveal all, perform one inarguable visible miracle to prove his existence?

I'll leave you with that question and the results of the answer to think on (allowing for the fact that you are atheist and our answers may well not be the same anyway...
