Can’t wait til the next Olympics, at age 10 I think the twins will be glued to the screen. They were a bit too young to appreciate the last one but looking forward to watching them enjoy this one. Hopefully it will go ahead this year!

Favourite types of cheese!!? I know a few of you are connoisseurs on here. Me, I’m a girl of simple tastes, (no comments please!) So my top 5 would be fairly mainstream

1. Brie
2. Emmental
3. Mozzarella (melted with ham on a sandwich 😋)
4. Camembert (again, hot with crusty bread to dip)
5. Jarlsberg

Hungry now!

Any list omitting a high quality cheddar is without merit in my book :P

Good category!

My current list would be;

1. Snowdonia Black Bomber (Mature Cheddar)
2. Port Salut
3. Belton Farm aged Red Leicester
4. Lidl Somerset Extra Mature Crunchy Cheddar
5. Parmesan

1-4 have to be eaten with a baguette. 5 - grated on spag bol or shaved over a salad.

Wow. There are only three cheeses which I'd go as far as to say I dislike - Emmental, Jarlsberg and Appenzeller.

Five favourite cheeses? This needs some serious thought. Serious business :)

1 - 5: cheddar

There are many, many noteable cheese out there (Stilton, Brie, manchego et al) but come on, they all pale to insignificance when there’s a simple extra mature cheddar in play....

Nothing exotic. Stilton mushroom cheese bake is about as good as it gets for a cheese dish for me. Don't like red or waxy cheeses so Cheddar is best for general. Wife prefers Lancashire or Cheshire.

Meh. Only place cheddar belongs is grated over pasta or in a cheese toastie otherwise there’s far more interesting cheeses around.

Oooh, forgot about Port Salut. Good shout. That would bump jarlsberg off my top 5.

Ughhh. Honestly that list is more or less a list of cheese I go out of my way to avoid. Apart from mozzy which is fine in cooking but basically tasteless apart from the real stuff in Italy.

Strong cheese is my heaven. Cheddars. Crunchy mature red Leicester’s and double gloucesters. Got to be mature and strong.

Fresh Parmesan also.

Can’t rank them. But jarlsberg I literally have no idea how anyone can eat that. Like chomping on play dough.

I'm no connoisseur where cheese is concerned but;

1) Roule
2) Smoked cheddar
3) Black bomber - thanks BP!
4) Mozarella
5) Lancashire

Stilton is minging by the way. I used to work on a council estate where the ground floor flats were riddled with damp and largely occupied by scruffy old blokes. Their flats all smelled of Stilton and were just as mouldy.

You obviously haven't tried much in the way of proper cheese then. Not the stuff you get in a typical supermarket. Given how long the post takes here, wait until we're back to winter and I'll send you some proper cheese. I stock around 150 cheeses, of which Cathedral City etc is only a tiny proportion of them :D

Good choice. Have you tried their Pickle Power?

As for Parmesan it has to be proper aged stuff to be worthy.

I’ve only tried black bomber to date. I picked up a piece of their truffle flavoured cheddar for Bruce, but I didn’t fancy it.

Woah! If you’re offering samples! 😉

I introduced GG to Black Bomber. Not sure she enjoyed it as much as Mr GG did.

In return, GG introduced me to baguette and cheese. I’d always been a cracker person before, as I’m not particularly into Camembert etc. I’m addicted now, as is Miss BP.

Definitely try it. It's pure joy on an oatcake. I'm not one for truffles so have tried the truffle trove one. They also do a tomato vodka chutney that goes well with the black bomber. For chutneys the Arran apple and hot beetroot are very good with a bit of cheese or a sarnie.
