Guess who's coming to dinner?
Might have done this before, honestly can't remember, but...
If you and a partner, wife, friend or whoever, were throwing an imaginary dinner party and could invite six of anybody from the past or present, famous or fictional, male, female or whoever you choose, who would they be? ( I'll put mine in later)
p.s. You're not restricted to Carr's pasties , so splash out.

I can’t just invite my mates?!
Arsene Wenger, Ian Wright, Tony Adams, Paul Merson, Dennis Bergkamp and Mikel Arteta. Reminisce over the glory days and quiz Mikel over who thought it would be a good idea to sign Willian…

I don't get that reference! She is bonkers though and seems a lot of fun. I thought if I opted for JLo I'd come across as transparentBruce Rioja wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 10:48 amYou only want Miriam Margoyles there so she can call you 'Mr Rabbit'. Re: Guess who's coming to dinner?
Perhaps I'm unusual but when people do these things my first thought is always - can I just eat alone? I can't think of anything worse than having 5 of my idols who don't know each other or me sat round a table!
So I get that's not the game...but anyway....

I'm almost embarrassed to say I didn't know who Hannah Arendt was, until I wiki'd her. I'd be following Insane with a table for 1 the minute that insufferable nice person McCartney turned up. Not even the lure of Victoria could keep me there!

Given TD's parameters I think I can pick her when she's still singleBWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 1:57 pmI get the thinking here but that honestly sounds horrible!
Is there a Victoria Coren I'm unaware of or did you just prefer her pre-married self?
Might have left myself open to being a bit outclassed intellectually though.
I know what you mean but they're all charismatic at the very least and funny in 3. Would've picked Clive James but reckon he and Hitchens would feck off to get pissed together. Also reckon all of them could talk to at least 2 of the others. Don't want anyone left out!
Basically anything important that has happened in the last 100 years you could talk about.

But he wouldn't be there if you hadn't invited him! He's doing free "Hey Jude's" by the way.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 2:17 pm

Re: Guess who's coming to dinner?
I did flirt with inviting Adolf or Stalin, just to see if they really were completely tonto, but I’d go with a current (Alive) list….
Rachel Paris
Lucy Veraswami (I dont care if you think thats shallow…..it is…..very…..)
Jay Rayner
Sade Adu
Sanjeev Bhaskar
and a very much not alive list
Patrick Moore
Sid James
Hattie Jacques
Alec Guinness
Marilyn Monroe

Would you also provide the accompanying sound of a tuba for when she walks down the hall?
