Mcilroy continues to stink the place up. Europe fighting hard here.
Don't talk silly. He's having a bad spell but it'll change. You're so ready to blame.
He’s having a shocking Ryder cup. He’s been dreadful. Oh and commentators just said it. He’s been abysmal. That’s nothing but reporting what’s going on in front of our eyes.
Yup. Zero birdies in matchplay over 36 holes. He's having a shocker. Interesting that he's out first up. Like all of them today, little point being shy.

Can't deny it. Not doing. I just didn't like Insaney's "terminology"....

Playing well, but it looks like we've left ourselves too big a mountain to climb. Not quite dead yet though..

Aye. This is in football terms being 6-0 down with 3 minutes of injury time to go and having a player sent off. It’s done and dusted. USA up in 9 of the 12. Just been better this week. Europe probably had too many out of their best form.

Switching off now as I can't stand he pain of US celebrations. Rather ironic that McIlroy won by three holes and Poulter is currently two up after both losing three matches, and Rahm and Garcia who won three got tanked. Funny old game golf....

Lost to a very good team. Tough to watch Rory's (and Poults) interviews.

Clearly hurt them being thumped. You have to say its hard to see the USA not winning the Rome one given its 2 years away their team has transitioned yet you feel the Europe one is still on that journey.

Other thing of course that isn't an excuse but looks like a factor is that Covid seemingly didn't change the ryder cup experience for the home USA side much but does seem to have had a big impact on the European team in terms of the rules and the preparations, no fans etc etc....wouldn't say that's influenced the result but probably has contributed to the margin of the defeat.

A lot can change in 2 years but not sure saying that the Americans would be big favourites next time is pessimism.

I think their average ranking was something like 9. Ours iirc was over 30. We can try and balance that a bit, by not picking a pitch that would suit them. But unless we have more that a couple in-form players, it's going to be uphill. They probably played to "rankings"

Europe 4-0 up after the first session. Only four. Let them off the hook. Boooo….. ;)

Seriously though do expect the Americans to come storming back but a few of theirs look a bit undercooked.

Probably sets it up because you feel that fourballs and singles will be the Americans games so Europe probably needing big foursomes wins to have a chance.

I dunno - they like big PGA courses where they can hit 800 yard drives down pretty wide fairways. They've historically struggled on tighter courses that are more about ball placement....They're likely still very strong in the singles, but strange things can happen away from home...Great start though. :-)

Hope Rory is on top form. We seem to have a realy strong team. Was it Tom Watson who's antics made me really dislike U.S.A in the Ryder Cup ?

Yeah to an extent. They still look the stronger team on paper regardless of course…but they don’t do so well away in these things…

I still fancy Europe will need a decent advantage going into the singles. Probably 10-6 something like that.

Edit: I could live with that! :-) They really didn't like Le Golf, last time out...Every time they camera swung to Patrick Reid, he was looking over bushes...was great to watch! :-)

They've just been discussing the course set-up and basically saying (the US commentator) - you miss the FW and you're in deep shit, because of how the rough has been set-up....In the US, you miss the carpet, and for these golfers the penalty isn't anything like as harsh..

Americans fighting back in the four balls as you’d expect.
