France are all over us. 18-6 at the break, :(

Au Revoir six nations. French defence had us by the short and curlies. Better second half, but best team won. Chanticleer is doing the crowing tonight. We didn't have a Dupont (who won M.O.T.M again.). Time to regroup and start again.
Better in all departments TBF Tango. Occasionally you got to say best team won it....
I did.

Being a late convert to the sport and still learning "on the hoof" as it were, it still appears obvious to me where England fail against the best. We lose too many line outs, give away far too many penalties, don't excel at the wide game and (with last night as a good example) aren't good enough to get beyond tough defences. If I can see it..?

Yeah. When Eddie took over he was trying to play open rugby. Were pretty dominant in scrum and line-out and because of the attacking intent got a decent cut of penalties.

We've regressed in this six nations, alarmingly. But, that said we had a good Autumn Internationals, including beating the World Cup holders.

Ah well, Ireland are my second team and at least we beat Italy and Wales. Let's hope we get that chariot swinging low again soon. What's happened with Ford and Farrell by the way? Have they gone the way of Mike Brown?

Farrell got injured before 6 Nations and had to pull out. Ford came on yesterday but wasn't in squad until Farrell got injured.

Groundhog 6 Nations. Dominated field position and possession. 6-6 at half time. Hill had been winding Swayne up all match and I thought lucky earlier when he looked to put a hand in Swayne's mug off the ball. Swayne rightfully sent off in today's currency but would have probably been a "cut it out" from the Ref back in the day.

Need to see all this new talent actually create something second half with a man advantage...they've not been great so far.

A win against OZ at any sport is good. This is a great win because they always have good rugby sides. Well done the red rosers and well done Ireland beating N.Z. :oyea:

The bad sporting weekend continues as England lose 29-30 to Argentina. We had the lead a few times but giving penalties away is an England thing.

We were awful and far too often ill disciplined. Niggly technical stuff that we should know better. We know this Argentina side were no mugs, having beaten the All Black's earlier in the year.

I could probably cut n paste some comments about pace and drive from the football thread that would slot in here quite nicely...

I am seriously starting to doubt Eddie's ability to get us at our best for the RWC.

Jack Van P..(can't pronounce) came on as a sub and scored 29 seconds later. We gave half a dozen penalties away in the last fifteen minutes.

Tis true. They played well, snuffed us out at the end. The problem wasn't just giving penalties away, they were kickable and the guy kicked well.

The Smith + Farrell thing doesn't really work and whilst Youngs takes some stick for box kicking, it's fairly evident that's what he's being told to do.

I think Eddie has probably run his race...

Gutted for the girlies. 60 minutes with a player down and only lost by 3. Some bizarre interventions by the TMO...
