Great shortage of PS3 due to European penchant for paying five times the price pre-Christmas. My little boy wants one but knows the difficulties as he waited six months for his PS2 and almost a year for a "Genuine" PSP. What is Wii? and is this suitable for a twelve year old?
Don't try to be a great man. Just be a man and let history make up its own mind.

Cnet is a good review site, and this one has a video review as well.

Plus, Sony is losing upto $306 on every console sold.
In fact, frustrations grew so large for disappointed punters that spates of violence erupted outside some stores with reports of fists thrown outside a Best Buy in Michigan, a Walmart store forced to close in Southern California, police being called to an outlet in New York, a spate of muggings, shots fired in (where else) Texas and gunman robbing a California store of its PS3 stock.

I got impatient waiting for the PS3 so I got a 360 last month, after playing on a friends. I'm usually a bit of a shill for Sony products, but I have to admit the 360 is very cool (Gears Of War is class) and it will certainly keep me entertained till the PS3 comes down in price.
Don't call it a comeback

I don't think PS3 will sell too well. Already people are being put off by the high price tag (much akin to N64's cartridge prices) so people will be reluctant to buy. There is no doubt that it is the most powerful console out there but that won't make a difference if only a select few will be willing to buy it.
I got my Wii on release date and have to say the experience is worth the £200 that you have to pay for it. Add onto that the fact that there is a gauranteed back catalogue of around 300+ games coming out for it and you've got a console that will offer significant gaming value. For anyone whose not played on the Wii go and have a play around with one when you get the opportunity, there's a multitude of things to give you a wide variety of playing styles to keep you interested. If you get the chance to check out Warioware or Wii Sports then you'll be part of the way there into understanding what they can do with the remote.

I have got the old Xbox and i think it brilliant, good graphics, Good selection of games and lots of internal memory so you dont need a memory card.
The only down fall i have with it, Is that you get loads of games for the PS2 that Xbox dont do and if they do the games then it take ages for Xbox to release them.
I am still an Xbox man though.
