Been listening to Feed The Animals by Girl Talk this morning. It's gimicky, but fun and some bit's are just amazingly imaginitive mash-ups. It's at least worth one listen just to try and identify all the different samples. Less impressed by his latest offering.

For me, Harry, James have always been one of those bands who, very much like The Manic Street Preachers, they generally produce albums that contain a half a dozen works of sheer brilliance coupled with a half a dozen works of contract obliging shite. However, Laid is as good as they ever got, I say, and it is a damn fine piece of work, followed by Millionaires, which i suggest you try next.

On these early listens he sounds pretty much indistinguishable from Jose Gonzalez for most of the time (which is no bad thing, of course) but can then drift into this kind of acoustic Modest Mouse arena (whilst still sounding like Jose Gonzalez)

Cheers Bruce, I'll give it a bash. - I had a look on an old MP3 player this morning where I just used to download all sorts of gubbins and never get round to listening to em, and found 2 James albums on there. Pleased to meet you & Fresh as a daisy. Result! :D

The only Jose Gonzalez song I know is his Knife cover

Bought the album (Veneer) on the back of it. It's like a pair of comfortable slippers that you just slip on when all you want to do is chill and lounge around. A really lovely album.

had a long (for me) lie in this morning and lay back listening to Danny Baker interview Alice Cooper... just very good radio..

anyway - as a consequence - have dug out "Love it to Death"...

(daughter just came downstairs - bleary-eyed - as her lie-in will be considerably longer than mine - and asked (or told) me to turn it down!) 8)

I'm eighteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen!!!

Any of you heard of Jake Bugg? A very decent listen indeed, certainly for the Mumford & Sons types.
