What are you playing tonight?

Get the guitars out.
Hah! I really like this track. Not given the album much attention (nor King of Limbs in all honesty) but I am very happy to have tickets to see them next year. First time since 2008 about about the 10th time overall.

Keep the gorgeous orchestration in!

Hey, I love and appreciate wonderful orchestration as much as anyone, but do I want to hear it from Radiohead? Of course, they've every right to take their music in the direction of their choosing, but as you know, I'm a guitar band boy, and Radiohead managed to to smash through regular limitations with what they did with The Bends. They didn't just create an idiosyncratic sound (as per, say, Marr with The Smiths), they created a completely different direction, and I wish that they'd taken it as far as they could. I saw them play The Apollo between The Bends and OK Computer - they were truly outstanding. I'm happy with my memories of that night and am happy to leave it there.

Absolutely sound as a pound. I first saw em in Warrington in October 2000 on the eve of (literally the night before) Kid A and was blown away (I was 17) - a first inclination of their move away from the guitar driven music that had been the staple of their output. Since then I have seen them plenty (up until 2008) and have been very happy with their experimentation! From Pablo Honey through The Bends to OK Computer there was definite, obvious progress (peaking with OK Comp), and after that it's been far more diverse (and lovely). In their minds, they probably thought that they had taken it as far as they could - hence the evolution of their music. I can't wait to see them again! :D

I was rather hoping he'd learned to sing by now. C'est la vie. Great track if they ever do an instrumental of it. :-)

As for a bit of Christmas chillout...

Manfred Mann "Joybringer , Peter Sarstedt's "Where do you go to my lovely", old favourites, and this, which I confess I'd never heard...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV9iWVVNJ6I" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Not sure how come I ever stopped listening to the truly amzing Tori Amos, however, reminded of her brilliance recently by Dr Hotdog I'm currently having a re-purge on her stuff. Tonight is 'Boys for Pele'. Exceptional. Oh, and with the proper version of Professional Widow on it.

Oddly melodramatic opening! Also noticed he made a song called 'Many Coloured Semi Precious Plastic Easter Eggs'. Now that's a title.

Not sure why I only began listening to her until a couple of weeks ago...! :conf: :grin:
