I want to send the tape to someone who can do it for me. Have you anyone in mind LGM?
No. Commie's Googling should point you in the right direction. The transfer2.co.uk lot look a bit more reputable than some of the others.

the ones where you type "walk N", "drink ginger beer" and "look"

for some of us these were the height of computing prowess, who can forget how long it took to load "The Hobbit" (12 minutes!! for about 15k!) and how long each picture took to load on the screen...

I'm lucky enough to have the Emulator disc with 400 spectrum games on, the only problem is it won't save games, so I'm buggered if I want to relive to glory days of the Hobbit (then again, who wants to go north, northeast, south, west northwest, north, northeast, west, west, south, east, north, east only to find yourself watching the screen you left 40 mins ago slowly load up!!)

prefared waxworks myself!

Got three of my games on there! Around 1984 I was writing and selling advenure games through the small ads in the back of Computer Weekly. Sold around 300 games in total which might not sound much but paid for my first printer (Sinclair thermal transfer job) and some other bits and pieces. Check out House Of Orion, The Dungeon and Raid On Lethos. All of the verb/noun game variety and all very, very dated!

any fans of Worms on here?

Worms 2 for the PC is perhaps the greatest one, I'm not convinced with the 3D one as yet but brilliant fun

Had some amazing games on the Atari ST as well. Graphics aside a realistic F16 fighter game with proper sorties, lots that fall into the "shit but good" category like Chuck Rock

 I had Return to arms, but it took me yonks to find Champions of Norrath! Both are almost as good as Baldur's gate: Dark Alliance. Straight forward hack and slash, can't beat it!

They were all done by the same company(Snowblind). Baldur's gate 2 was a different company. Best bit about RTA is you can use your CON character. I absolutely love them both. I really enjoyed Baldur's gate as well, but they messed up on 2 by not keeping the characters playable from 1 to 2.

How anything outside of the Champ Manager/Football Manager series can be considered addictive in comparison is beyond me!

Can't whack a bit of Super Mario Kart on the SNES
