Get your pets insured.
We have had our Shithzu only a few weeks. He's just a pup. This week the wife took him out for a walk round the block and he got all excited and dashed between her legs not more than twenty yards from the house. Wife tripped over the lead and landed on top of him and broke his leg in two places. Complicated operation, bill over £1000 already and will get bigger.
Thank fxxx we insured him at super-cover and paid the premium up front. If we'd paid monthly we'd have had no claim. If you have pets, Insure them. Gutted for the pup who's a little villain and who's now totally bewildered dragging a large cast around. Not half as gutted as I would have been at the vet's bills. Bet the insurance company love me and Alfie (the dog) already. Learn the lesson folks and don't get caught out

you're getting conned if they won't let you pay monthly and still make a claim, imagine if they tried that with car or house insurance???TANGODANCER wrote:We have had our Shithzu only a few weeks. Clearly stated in the policy Commie. Didn't see to be too important at the time but a neighbour warned us about it. Hope the pup gets well soon Tango. My girlfriend's family's black kitten, 'Jay Jay' (yes, that was me
), was soon back to his old tricks once his cast came off, following an unfortunate incident with a car. Her parents didn't have pet insurance then. They do now...

aw bless poor Tango Doggy
We had a lot of problems with our cat before she died, cost a bomb cos she wasnt insured and no-one would do it as she was (only just) over 10yrs old. and it was all for nowt cos we had to have her put to sleep anyway
a friend also had a very sick dog who was sent to the Royal Vet College cos no 'normal' vet could work out what was the matter. the total bill for that was over 5grand but luckily they did have insurance which covered it all.
I'd definitely recommend it

I've agreed to look after someone's cat/kitten when they go away for a week at the end of September. It's a two way thing really as they get their cat looked after and I get to see what it's like to keep one, with a view to getting one of my own later.
Any tips?

I thought I'd take a look at this and whoever your insurer is is taking the michael with such a scheme if it is the case. I have a feeling the call centre muppet has actually told you rubbish and that it is more likely that becaus eto took our a premium poilcy the initial exclusion period was shorter than on other policies rather than the fact that you hadn't paid monthly.TANGODANCER wrote:Clearly stated in the policy Commie. There would be no justification on the basis of monthly payments - otherwise you'd have to presumably pay for a year before the polcy came in to force. The question of cancellation of monthly polcies wouldn't be an issue as most have a standard clause that states the full annual premium is paid if the policy is cancelled early and a claim has been made.

Cheers Commie, I'll take a look over it. The wife took it out and although I knew about it I didn't see it till a hole appeared in the bank balance. Typical.

Now, it may be me .... but .... how's the wife ??!!TANGODANCER wrote:We have had our Shithzu only a few weeks. He's just a pup.
The wife took him out for a walk ... he got all excited and dashed between her legs (she) tripped over the lead and landed on top of him and broke his leg in two places.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
