The sheer f-cking banality used to wind me up. Plus Craig Cash is one unfunny bastard.

However, looking back Caroline Aherne was strangely hot.

Nor full stops.

Kiss my arse Caps. It's a crap effort, full of inane and boring observational comedy. It's up there with 'Only Fools and Horses' in the 'Most Over-rated' category.

I watched it tonight - awesome stuff. Probably a bit too subtle for some though, eh?

Subtle? That's the thing though, how can Ricky 'hypocrite' Tomlinson be subtle? He is about as subtle as my mate CAPS.

Ahh - but there's the point - you're missing a whole seam of subtelty... but never mind - there's bound to be a repeat of Bottom on UKTV Gold somewhere..

Come on then, don't keep this idiot in suspenders - elaborate.

Be so kind as to provide your opinion, rather than repeat those spouted in tonights BBC prog...........

It's very difficult to describe subtlety...

but the genius of the Royle Family (IMO) is that on the surface nothing much happens - but the chemistry between the actors means that loads is happening under the surface..

Normally I don't like Ricky Tomlinson much - but in this his part is played really well. I think it works on lots of levels - but not least in the seemingly total lack of ability within that family to communicate verbally (especially the blokes) - but... somehow within in a great deal of emotion is communicated very powerfully...

iy's not laugh-a-minute - and I don't think I'd classify it as simple "comedy" - that's not what it is... it's not shakespeare - but it is deep...

that's what I think - you, of course are perfectly within your rights to think differently - but having asked me to elaborate, perhaps you could do better then "shit then, shit now." eh?

(oh - and I didn't watch the prog that followed - I find little more nauseous than celebs trying to look clever by commenting on the genius of other celebs...) We turned over and watched Torchwood... (which was a bit crap, but better than the snooker!)

I had some sympathy for your cause Batman, always watched it and thought "Emperor's New Clothes" and that most of the people sat laughing would actually be the ones it's based on. But then you come out with a comment like that and I worry for you, it smacks of sexual frustration, just get yourself a ten-to-twoer fella, give the boys a run out and you'll soon get over it.

Absolute quality for me, I proper laughed out loud in parts and I don't always laugh at TV shows. It just sums up my family totally, my dad is the Carlisle version of Jim Royle.

But then I think South Park is rubbish - so what do I know about comedy????
