A spokeswoman for Wakefield Council said the authority had too much time and money on its hands and as such would not rest until the offending chip shop owner had been hunted down like the dog that he is.

Meanwhile in other news, Wakefield based war veteran and pensioner Albert Woodard, 82, is facing his third winter without street lights outside his home. Albert, who pays nearly £550 a year in council tax and only moved into his purpose built flat three years ago said he had spoken to the council no less than 20 times over the last two years but without progress being made. A spokeswoman for Wakefield Council said the fault was in the hands of the house builders and was nothing to do with them.

Dealing with Councils in Yorkshire a lot through work, I'd love to say I was surprised.

But I'd be lying.
