You'd call that a "feel good" movie, Dujon? I saw it a very long time ago and enjoyed it - but it didn't give me that warm, fuzzy feeling as I recall. Kids hide a murderer because they think he is Jesus but the cops get him in the end. Sort of sad and moving? Is that the one?

I love it that they used dialect in the narrative. "Thar't not Jayzus, thar't a robber, thee" and "Wiv bret thi sum cheaze, Jayzus", that sort of thing. Superb. Likewise - Kes.

Saw this and it reminded me of the great little film - City Slickers

Veteran American actor Jack Palance, who starred in the classic western Shane and the cowboy comedy City Slickers, has died aged 87.

That's the one - filmed in the Lancashire countryside.

Sad and moving sums it up. The little lad in the family steals the show, the one who calls his kitten 'spider.'

Yes, Monty. Not so much the fact of Alan Bates playing a murderer but looking at the situation through the eyes of a child and, I suppose to some extent, experiencing the innocence (or naivety) of being that age again.

As some have already mentioned the children had some lovely lines.

I found the other film I mentioned. It's Tawny Pipit, made in 1944 and set during WWII. There's nothing particularly special about it apart from the atmosphere it invokes. I don't think I'd recall any of the actors in other films (though undoubtedly they did).

I go for the classic war movies every time: The Great Escape, Dambusters, 633 Squadron, all the old favourites. The stoicism and wit in the face of adversity, rousing scores and great ensemble casts do it for me.

I'm rather surprised to see City Slickers on this thread, but pleasantly so. What was a potentially risible film turned out to be moving and profound with some great performances. It really evoked the spirit of the classic Western in such an honest manner too. A true feel-good film indeed and a great call Sluffy.

Not quite what I'd call feel good movies but, in that genre, "Reach for the Sky", the story of the legless (limbless, not drunk) Douglas Bader, played brilliantly by Kenneth Moore, is well worth a mention.
