Casino Royale

Post by ratbert » Tue Nov 14, 2006 11:32 pm

As a huge 007 fan, I'm looking forward to Casino Royale given the reviews have been so good. Anyone else going? Favourite Bond moments?

was in leicester sq yesterday morning, they were setting up for the premier, it was huge, far bigger than anything they usually do. Am gutted that I wasn't able to stay down there and see it all.

From the advanced reviews it sounds fantastic and I hope all those sad wankers who started the ant-daniel craig stuff and all the smear campaigns have it rammed down their throats. Most critics seem to be describing him as the best Bond and this as the best bond film.

I'm not expecting gadgets and quips, this is going to be much more like Bourne Identity/Supremacy. Not looking forward to the torture scene. I'm off work this week so I suspect an early morning trip to the pics could be order of the day.

I'm sersiously exited about this film, I'll be seeing it on Sunday so I'll let you know. It would be a nice change to see a Bond that can bleed!

as for memorable bits, Goldfinger rules....

(one for Blurred to think on..)
Bond: You play a Slazinger 1, don't you?
Goldfinger: Yes, why?
Bond: This is a Slazinger 7. Here's my Penfold Hearts. You must have played the wrong ball somewhere on the 18th fairway. We are playing strict rules, so I'm afraid you lose the hole and the match.

and of course...
Bond: Do you expect me to talk?
Goldfinger: No, Mr. Bond. I expect you to die.

I'm hoping to see it soon after it comes out, and some of the scenes I saw on a TV documentary are promising. I was disappointed with the last two Brosnan movies however, so hope for an improvement.

My favourite is probably Man with the Golden Gun.

Goldfinger, definitely. Best opening song of the series too.

I also like Thunderball a lot, and honorable mention to "The Spy who loved me" for introducing Jaws!

I'm excited about the film - its a great bond book and has the potential to be one of the best

But I'm still fuming about the choice of bond!! No no no no no!!

I’m like a kid excited about this. Looks absolutely fab, I think I’m gonna splash out some ££s and watch it at The Gallery at the Printworks

I've not been a fan of James Bond in the past, it's not really captured me as clever gizmos aren't my thing, and it's was always the way that he outsmarted the bad guys, sh*gged the girl and saved the world. Plus my irrational phobia of sharks...

BUT

There is something definitely sparkly about Daniel Craig, rumour has it he looks handy in his trunks and it's supposebly a great film. So maybe I'll put my Bond Apathy to one side.

I've regularly been to the filmworks, handy for films after work but not been to the gallery. My friend told me that you get free drinks and miniature Heroes (the chocolates not a thumb-sized Superman).

I've not watched James Bond since the terrible Roger Moore starred as your man. Basically, Moore's poor and dreadfully unconvincing performances as the quintessential British hero-come-bounder were what put me off, and I never have been, nor will I ever be impressed by imaginary gadgets.

I heard somewhere that they've given Layer Cake blokey a Ford Mondeo for this one. Is that right? :conf:

Mods, sort this out...

Though I did find this reviewer's description of Craig very interesting, as she describes his face as "brutishly ugly" in one sentence, and then his sex appeal as "off the scale" in the next... http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/ ... 29,00.html

Maybe there is hope for Commie after all? :conf:

Not a Bond fan, but this looks OK in a sort of crappy Bourne rip-off kinda way.
