The doc's given me some new tablets. Took one when I got in last night at 6, but unfortunately forgot I'd had it and took another one before bed. I've just woken up. You'd think I'd feel great, but no, it's like I'm jet lagged, I'm feckin wrecked. Won't be doing that again.

Translation fail: The Kremlin responded angrily to the suggestion Putin was involved in the death of Litvinenko and warned the allegations would further "poison" relations between Russia and Britain.

Well .... yesterday morning I decided that rather than use the normal method I'd take the final 8 steps horizontally. Well, more of a 45° angle, in sympathy with the rake of the stairs. Sort of a luge, without the tea-teay.

Ended at the bottom with my left leg underneath me, hurting but not sure where, how, or how badly. Anticipating finding I had a break. Maybe several.

Fortunately no more than sore & twisted knee - maybe stretched a ligament, two bruised ankles, bruised shin, bruises on the small of my back and by one shoulder blade, sore big toe and bump on the side of my head.

Today I may try from the top step.

Thank God I'm a fat bastard !!

Have you had a bit of a fall dear? At least you've not thrown a hip out.

You didn't expect sympathy on here did you?!

Have you been injured in an accident that wasn't your fault?

Aaaaaaah, the ambulance chasers have arrived.

I guess I could sue myself. In a World where people believed Eddie Davies might take himself into administration to recover money he owed himself I guess anything's possible.

Aren't some folk touchy? I started a thread on a literature forum (as I often do anywhere)with a part quote and somebody came on, ignored the thread and started explaining what the quote was about. I replied (foolishly) that, yes, anybody who called themselves a reader would recognise it and it wasn't important and just a title. Oh dear, a lady of Hungarian heritage came on to chastise me that I had indicated she wasn't a reader when she could speak and read in three languages besides her own. Sometimes.....

Any way, I offered due apology (through gritted teeth) and stepped back keeping further thought firmly to myself. No more clever stuff there then.... :|

Thanks for the good wishes.

I admit to feeling "you're old when you do this sort of thing" except, of course, anyone could do it at and age.

The various bruises aren't so bad. The knees OK, but only OK. It hurts if I try to extend it or fully straighten it without care and it's non too keen on lateral movement without taking my time. But all in all it's far better than it might have been.

Well I suggest you give up skeleton-stair-luge as a sport. Especially your intended attempt from the top.

For future reference, if you want to use the staircase as a sort of bobsleigh, we found as children that the best method was to get the mattress from my little brothers old bed, which was quite flat and so one end could be pulled up (sort of folding it in half over yourself) which both gave added protection to the riders and meant you went down a hell of a lot faster.

Aye :oyea: Mum's baking tray works pretty well too - but offers a lot less in protection...

It's February 29th, you're not getting paid for it anyway! Definitely should have pulled a sickie.
