:D he can get as many as he likes in the first innings - you've still got to get them in the second to win! pah!

So .... he got 11 for the match ?

So some other guys had to get the other 9 ? Slacker.

Another 3 in the first innings for Wagner - he's going downhill, fast. Lanky 226-2 after bowling Hampshire out for 109.

Brilliant start to the season if we can go 2 from 3, with us forcing Somerset to follow on in the other. There won't be many results this season across the league with the new rules, so early wins will be precious.

Might have to have a read up. Hadn't spotted the rules had changed...

Looks like we're giving it some long handle, to get some overs in at them tonight...

Big runs for Root and Bairstow today...161no and 195no at the moment

New rules concern the toss - basically the away side has first refusal on whether to bowl first. This is to prevent teams preparing seam friendly green toppers as they'd then have to bat first on it. Idea is to give more opportunity to develop spinners if teams aren't being rolled out for 200 all the time.

The problem is they've been batting paradises so far and 11 of the first 13 div 1 games this season ended in a draw (that's in April, and not weather related).

As a result of the above, wins will be at a premium. If we can have 2 from 3 under our belt we'll be well placed

I skim-read something about this a while back. Bit I didn't get was why when it was 50-50 you'd get the seamers paradise, a home team would be so keen to have one. Was the thinking that the 50% of times you were in first your knowledge of your own pitch would be enough to give you a chance and make the gamble worth it?

Old fashioned idea I know, ( admitting I have no knowlege of modrn rules) but I always thought tossing a coin decided who did what without bias. Home and away sort of levels things up a bit. The rest is just cricket. Like I said, probably old-fashioned.

Well, they pulled out a win despite the weather. I suspect we have the worst climate for cricket and would win far more of it wasn't for the rain.

More draws should suit us right, given how many games we have rained away? Didn't our only title in about a billion years coke the year we were coincidentally away from old Trafford?

Currently 6/4. Those 3 early wins feel like a long time ago!
