So if we leave the EU will just carry on with their 'love in', no one else will follow and it will be a big mistake by the Brits?
There is an undertone across Europe that is completely fed up with the bungling Eurocrats and the bloody Merkel government, the EU will fail if we leave, just watch the scares aimed at us towards the end of May.

They're hardly likely to say "Well, the Brits have fcuked off so we all might as well pack it in" are they? It may lead to a some sort of break up of the EU or it may not, but if they really think it is so fragile it can't take us leaving they aren't going to admit it.

Re: Brexit or Britin
A proper two tier, two speed Europe was one way to solve many problems, a non federal type EU with member states guaranteed independence and sovereignty, a fair trade low/no tariff system but of course that democracy thing is dammed inconvenient, I mean imagine an elected government not toeing theAbdoulaye's Twin wrote:They're hardly likely to say "Well, the Brits have fcuked off so we all might as well pack it in" are they? Imagine the 2 largest UK political parties having democratically elected members not toeing the party/government line.

6 and a bit weeks to go and it looks like the tide has turned. Brexit is now just a distant dream for some barring a disaster for the 'ins'.

Yeah but no real surprise really. The nearer it gets to polling day, the more frightened of change folk become.Bijou Bob wrote:6 and a bit weeks to go and it looks like the tide has turned. Brexit is now just a distant dream for some barring a disaster for the 'ins'.

#2 son sent some figures today showing a 4% re-swing back to the outers and a 4% lead to the In camp.Worthy4England wrote:I don't believe that, for one minute.Bijou Bob wrote:6 and a bit weeks to go and it looks like the tide has turned. There will be swings to & fro yet.
Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.

I still think it'll be an out vote, or a very small remain vote. I'm sure all the press will be telling the "remainers" that it's hardly worth turning up at the polling station...bobo the clown wrote:#2 son sent some figures today showing a 4% re-swing back to the outers and a 4% lead to the In camp.Worthy4England wrote:I don't believe that, for one minute.Bijou Bob wrote:6 and a bit weeks to go and it looks like the tide has turned. I actually think 'in' will win in no small thanks to brain dead/washed Trotsky's wandering like sheep behind comrade Corbyn.Worthy4England wrote:I still think it'll be an out vote, or a very small remain vote. Re: Brexit or Britin
One thing nagging at me about this whole public heads or tails vote thing: Whichever way it goes, in or out, there's almost certain to be a down side somewhere ( there always is) which, presumably will be a signal for the politicians to claim, "Well, you decided. We told you not to go that route". The whole thing somewhat highlights a farcial situation of having politicians (experts, advisors, assessors etc, etc, ) to guide us in such decisions and then play delegators when decision time comes. A sort of pre-booked guilt trip for anyone on the winning side if it all goes tits up.
Si Deus pro nobis, quis contra nos?
Re: Brexit or Britin
My main fear of a largish vote to remain is they, the EU, will use the result as an excuse to bring in/modify treaties/regulation in regard of migrants/sovereignty etc. despite any of our so called 'opt outs' and say well this was all planned and you voted for it.TANGODANCER wrote:One thing nagging at me about this whole public heads or tails vote thing: Whichever way it goes, in or out, there's almost certain to be a down side somewhere ( there always is) which, presumably will be a signal for the politicians to claim, "Well, you decided. I fully expect 'Dave's' negotiated settlement to be thrown out, our 'membership fee rebate' to come under fire as unfair, mainly driven by the countries that should never have been allowed in in the first place, Turkey, under German patronage to be allowed in and pressure applied for us to join the Euro (never would there be a better time for pushing the Euro seeing they will have convinced people, if remain wins, that the pound is a useless, cannot stand on it's own, currency).
The fat cats will get fatter, Europhile politicians and appointees will revel in the power and rewards, little backwater places like Lithuania will revel in obstructing anything that's in our interests unless there is pay off for them, democracy will become a mere nuisance and the only way to object will be by civil unrest that will be put down by financial strangulation or a new police force like the border cops Frontex, I really believe a win for 'in' will start a change in this country that will be unstoppable, ever.

Re: Brexit or Britin
I agree with TD - I'm ok that we're having a vote on this (so in no way objecting) - but it's of such a magnitude, it's like spot the ball. Most folks (and I include myself in this) have little notion of the impacts of in (or out) in any meaningful sense - even when you look, read and try to understand, the base data is questioned. The information that's in the public domain is open to wild interpretation on both sides - and has been subject to it. So realistically it's pseudo-democracy. We'll give you a vote, the ramifications of which you can't possibly understand.
I'm glad to see Hoboh hasn't resorted to Project Fear in his response. Not one little bit.

Re: Brexit or Britin
I'm not sitting on the fence, it is what I really believe will happen and so if I may say do Dave and the cronies, they just never anticipated so much anti feeling and Italy/Merkel's stupidity with Migrants.Worthy4England wrote:I agree with TD - I'm ok that we're having a vote on this (so in no way objecting) - but it's of such a magnitude, it's like spot the ball. Re: Brexit or Britin
I'm predicting a massive win for BRITIN by at least 20 % points. I do agree with much of your later post. Most of the population will be voting on an issue about which they can know nothing of the potential consequences. Fear will carry the day. I also think that for once, Hoboh may well be right, I can indeed see us getting shafted once we've decided to stay in.Worthy4England wrote:I still think it'll be an out vote, or a very small remain vote.
