Or deciding to bluff it out to create market interest. Either way we gain.

SIGNING COMPLETED (per official site)
Parky quotes on BN:
He's 6ft tall, like all of Parky's signings have been (as a minimum), but he's not northern - he's from Southwark in our dear capital. Turns 30 in September.Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of Mark Howard on a free transfer.
Most recently on the books at Sheffield United, the goalkeeper puts pen-to-paper on a two-year deal at Macron Stadium.
The 29-year-old started his career with his Arsenal before making his professional debut during a loan spell with Falkirk during the second half of the 2005/06 season.
Having enjoyed stints in Wales with Cardiff City and Swansea City and in Scotland with St. Mirren and Aberdeen, he returned to England with Blackpool in September 2011.
Joining the Blades the following February, Howard made 104 appearances for the club during his four-and-a-half stay at Bramall Lane and was a member of the side that reached the Sky Bet League One play-offs in 2014/15.
Parky quotes on BN:
I’m really pleased to get Mark on board. He was a big part of Sheffield United’s cup runs a couple of years ago and he featured when they got to the play-offs too. He’s the type we have been looking for, so I think he’ll do a good job for us.

Somewhat peripatetic career but he was the Blades' first choice for 20 months, from Feb 2014 until Nov 2015, when he was replaced by (22-year-old) youth product George Long in a decision the Sheffield Star described as "controversial in some quarters”.

Nice signings so far and it's quite weird to see the smiling faces on the training pitch. I mean, I'm not used to it...

In several years posting on here, I'm sure that's the very first use of 'Peripatetic' I've ever seen. Well done sir, well done.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote:Somewhat peripatetic career but he was the Blades' first choice for 20 months, from Feb 2014 until Nov 2015, when he was replaced by (22-year-old) youth product George Long in a decision the Sheffield Star described as "controversial in some quarters”.

Why, thank you. It's a fine comedy word.
Meanwhile, this from the Mail. (I normally include a link but frankly, f*ck them.)

Bournemouth are rivalling Arsenal for Bolton defender Rob Holding.
Bolton have rejected a £2million offer but expect Bournemouth to return with a revised bid. Arsenal had a £1.25million bid rejected last month before offering improved bonuses on top for the England U21 internationa

It might not be too long before we stop holding Holding.General Mannerheim wrote:would like to see some departures now!
Others might be harder to shift.
Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
Didn't Bournemouth pay Ipswich around 10 million for that Mings lad?
Both English.. Check!
Both defenders.. Check!
Both wanted after a first good breakthrough season.. Check!
Can somebody tell me why we are only getting offered around 2 million for our lad when Mings goes for 5 times that? That was a season or two back as well before all these barmy prices started appearing this summer! Callum Chambers is another one who went for a big fee.
Whatever we sell for, we would be much better selling to a Bournemouth type as we are more likely to get a large chunk of any silly sale to a "big" club down the line. If we sell to Arsenal he will rot there for the next however many seasons.

Exactly what I thought Chris. Could well play reserve football get a few loans and end up released and signing for another club for nothing while our bonus agreements go through the shredder.ChrisC wrote:Didn't Bournemouth pay Ipswich around 10 million for that Mings lad?

He's promising but it's a very long way from where he is now to top 4 premier regular.

Bournemouth have just paid £15m for someone too.. so they've either busted their account, or they're minted.ChrisC wrote:Didn't Bournemouth pay Ipswich around 10 million for that Mings lad?

They sold Ritchie to Newcastle for 12m and have now bought Jordan Ibe from Liverpool for 15m so thats one in and one out for loose change in Premiership terms.boltonboris wrote:Bournemouth have just paid £15m for someone too.. so they've either busted their account, or they're minted.ChrisC wrote:Didn't Bournemouth pay Ipswich around 10 million for that Mings lad?
