Laugh, it's more fun...BWFC_Insane wrote:Boris Johnson as foreign secretary. Not sure whether to laugh or cry. Probably both.
Boris could be the most amusing Foreign Sec since George Brown, who asked a woman in red for a dance & found she was the Archbishop of Lima

Re: The Politics Thread
Think things might just have got a bit more interesting for Labour as Michael Foster is about to launch a legal challenge to the Labour NEC for ruling Corbyn can stand without 51 MP's support. Who? Many might adk (as I did).
Michael Foster is a Jewish Labour donor (£400k was his last tab) and he's mighty worried that in the complex world of Israel/Palestine, there are a few too many looney lefties (including I guess Corbyn) supporting one side more than t'other.
Think this has some way to run, yet...

TBH I'm really surprised Boris wasn't given Jeremy Hunt's job. After all, it must be quite useful as Health Secretary to just be able to pull extra funding from your arse that nobody else knew even existed. Missed a trick there Theresa.
You can judge the whole world on the sparkle that you think it lacks.

It's still all good. He'll just replace all those fields the farmers keep fallow and all their subsidies with the burgeoning export markets he'll generate as Foreign Sec. We can start with the US. He's stopped short of telling Obama they should kiss Churchill's ass, but he did mention he wouldn't want to be seen in the same town as Trump. Win/win.Lord Kangana wrote:TBH I'm really surprised Boris wasn't given Jeremy Hunt's job. You lot wanted Brexit people in jobs to set up leave and you start sniping before the war has started

It's getting time for the whinging, wailing and carping to stop and what a mard arsed lot some of the remainers are turning out to be,
Dummy out, toys over the side, I'm leaving the UK because it's no longer just about me, no thought to buckling down and getting a decent deal for everyone.
The 'peace' Europe has supposed to have kept could erupt into civil wars in some countries before long, I can see their latest refugee policy being popular.
Oh and while we are talking about a coherent EU that works well together, take a look at the promises made and actual numbers enacted.

Re: The Politics Thread
We've been in the EU long enough to see what it was doing and where it was going, the new phase in our relations with it has hardly started yet and those that backed remain have no clue, like those who backed leave, as to what the out come is going to be yet, hardly grounds for the constant sniping and whingeing.Lord Kangana wrote:Are you saying you wanted Brexit hoboh? If you say you can you probably will.

The UK is still in the EU, it's not too late to f*ck off.

Anyone else think that May is setting Johnson up for an almighty fall?

However, if you'd argued that Nigel Farage was allowed to please himself and not engage with Europe you'd probably be feeling a bit of a hypocrite right now. Bit meaning massive of course.Enoch wrote:If you say you can't you wont.

All good, but I'm not saying I can't or won't, I'm laughing at some other stupid cnut - sniper rifle in hand and actually don't care if I'm a stone round their neck.Enoch wrote:If you say you can't you wont.

Her Cabinet picks are "interesting"...boltonboris wrote:Anyone else think that May is setting Johnson up for an almighty fall?
Leavers
Boris - Foreign Sec
Davis - Brexit Sec
Fox - International Trade
Patel - International Development
Evans - Leader of Lords
So all the people in key positions to do the "leave the EU" bit and get to land of milk and honey are all Brexiteers - she can argue that Home Office on Immigration would have to align to whatever the EU trade deal is (Rudd was "remain) and Chancellor will have to adjust based on what "Brexiteers" land on...
If it's successful she claims victory coz it was successful, if it wasn't so successful she can replace Brexiteers on the basis that they couldn't deliver on their promises (although not sure if that'd help her particularly - but might give the opportunity to "change tack")...
Friends close, enemies closer....
