Gaz Coombes new Album 'Matador' is very good. Not festival material though I don't think.
Fun Loving Criminals? In Ramsbottom?

Had a fantastic weekend at the Ramblin Man Festival at Maidstone's Mote Park
Too many bands to mention over 4 different stages. Highlights included Ginger Wildheart, Terrorvision, Whitesnake, The Graveltones, Airbourne and Thunder.
Lots of beer food and music. Best weekend in ages. Even managed to top up my tri-tan.

It was. Procol Harum and Hawkwind on the Prog stage too.
Also a Blues/ Outlaw Country stage and a 'Rising Stars' stage for breakthrough bands.
4 real ale tents too which meant no queues (virtually). Really well organised event. £130 for a weekend pass sounds expensive (and it was X 3) but I have had what feels like a mini-holiday. Just glad it didn't rain.
More than likely back next year.

I saw ABC a couple of years ago at 80s Rewind in Dubai and Martin Fry was very good. Heaven 17 were shit apart from the young lass they had singing for them. Howard Jones who I liked back then, I just wanted to nice person him round the head with his laptop. The rest of them were pretty decent and it was a good bit of nostalgia.Bijou Bob wrote:Car fest north on Friday. ABC are kicking off the music. A nice blast from the past.

Re: Where are you going tonight?
Went to watch the horror classic The Cabinet of Dr Caligari tonight. Shown on a small screen in a small room above a pub that's just up the road, it was accompanied live by a trio that played a specially composed score.
Of course it was a part of the Edinburgh Fringe so naturally it was a load of pretentious/humourless tosh.

About to try paragliding in a couple of hours time. I say paragliding, it's obviously someone else doing it while presumably I'm trussed up somewhere near the pilot. The Dolomites are amongst the most spectacular sights I've ever seen but you have to expand a lot of energy to see the best bits. I'm hoping to offset the cost against the energy saving

Tried to climb the lighting rig at the side. Bit of pantomime Yay-ing and Nay-ing with the stage manager then opted for a jog round the crowd.
Harmless fun. Still a bit too AC/DC lite for me. Reckon he should get the gig when Axl's finished pissing about.
Re: Where are you going tonight?
Went to see Mogwai at the Barbican yesterday evening. They were playing their new album Atomic as a soundtrack to Mark Cousins’s documentary Atomic: Living in Dread and Promise. It was fantastic: so powerful and moving.
