Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
He's only "on the verge". Hold fire with the champagne corks.
I dunno, he looked brilliant on loan - even in a team massively struggling, thanks (IIRC) to Lenny's back-three proclivities. And although he developed (in Boris's brilliant phrase) a T-rex-like inability to deal with high long shots, when he was out for Rachubka things got rapidly much worse.
I don't think he's a terrible goalkeeper, but I do think his wage is a terrible liability. That he was handed a £3.3m basic contract in summer 2015, a mere few weeks before financemageddon, shows that somebody somewhere was a complete f*cking idiot.

Exactly - he's too expensive to have on the bench. Probably a decent keeper in a stable team. But I've not seen anything to suggest he's worth twice as much as Howard.

Will this mean that young Jussi, all 5ft 9ins of him will be on the bench on Saturday???
I feel reborn !!!! No more confussion

It'd be nice if Wigan signed a goalkeeper and lent us Jaaskelainen Senior.Riviman wrote:Will this mean that young Jussi, all 5ft 9ins of him will be on the bench on Saturday???
More likely that Parky will be hitting the phones to the managers in the top two divisions asking if anyone's going spare.
But there are literally dozens of unemployed goalkeepers whom we could hire after the deadline.

Not advocating mass-murder as an entirely positive experience, of course, but it had its moments.
"I understand you are a very good footballer" ... "I try".

There's one thing for sure and that is Jussi's son is not ready to come straight in to the 1st team if Howard is injured (if Amos goes), but I think it would benefit Amos if he went on loan.

See Clayton has to have exploratory surgery to find out what is wrong with his knee. Really tracking right along the Holden curve. I will be surprised if he makes more than 10 more appearances for us.

Personally I'm hoping it's a relatively minor issue that can be simply corrected. Call me an incorrigible optimist if you will.

He'd be one I'd be looking to pay off, harsh as it may seem. I reckon across his career here and at Crewe he's probably been injured more than he's been fit.LeverEnd wrote:Free transferto the dogmeat and glue factory?BWFC_Insane wrote:See Clayton has to have exploratory surgery to find out what is wrong with his knee. And he's had bad serious ones too.
I like him but I think he's going to be one of those unlucky ones.
And we can't carry permacrocks.

Claytons contracts up after this season. If he's fit for less than half of it I would be fecking him off. Waste of wages on the treatment table.

Me too if he's constantly injured. Wouldn't be writing him off yet though.officer_dibble wrote:Claytons contracts up after this season. If he's fit for less than half of it I would be fecking him off. Waste of wages on the treatment table.

One of the lads I work with here is a family friend of his and he says he is genuinely gutted he's out.
I know he's a permacrock, but at least he is trying his best to get back.
For personal interest, does anyone know if clubs are insured for long term injuries or do they just have to take the risk?

What a hero, What a man...... Ooooh, what a bad foul...
Re: For new signings, ask the man from the Pru
Think they used to and then the markets ended up setting the premiums at a level that meant that clubs felt it wasn't worth it. Think it's out there if you want it but few bother.
In a world that has decided
That it's going to lose its mind
Be more kind, my friends, try to be more kind.

I refuse to believe it after these wise words only yesterday

It was a surprise. Parky was talking up having two keepers. Perhaps the form of Vela/Spearing etc have forced this as it seems no outs = no more ins!Harry Genshaw wrote:I refuse to believe it after these wise words only yesterdayBWFC_Insane wrote: And Amos - no chance.
