Everton Reserves in the cock up cup
No match thread?
What a massive cock up this is by the football league. Could be less than 2k on tonight. In school holidays! Well done.
Which 5 will we keep in then - Howard/Beevers/Vela/Taylor/Trotter would be my guess - Taylor on the basis he came on for Davies.
Derik, Woolery, Wilkindon, Taylor, Wilson all to play.

Genuinely gutted for the club here - its a competition we should fancy a crack at given the wembley final, but the league have debalued it massively, and the rule about first teamers playing is a disgrace.jetsetwilly wrote:I will be disappointed if more than 500 turn up. Shameful

Proctor subbed after 20 mins - presumably thats the earliest he could be subbed to comply with the rules.

Re: Everton Reserves in the cock up cup
Pardon my even by my own standards legendary level ignorance here?
Is this the Tilly van trophy, Sherpa Freight Rover, Paints etc.. League 1 and 2
Or have I missed another revolutionary upgrade designed to favour the haves over the have nots?
wtf is going on?

My sensors are picking up a mild vibe that Insania isn't a fan of the format.

Eeeeeee Dear... I were right looking forward to a pop at the Paint Pot! It was one of the, admittedly very few, compensations of the slide into the shit that was last season and now Barrington Blazer Mbe has fecked that up an'all.

Re: Everton Reserves in the cock up cup
The Football league said the introduction of the U23's was to aid the development of the National side.
Norwich's striker scored a hat-trick.. Great, until you hear he's a 29 year old Frenchman.
Stoke's keeper didn't end up playing as he had a late call up for Austria U21's and Reading reserves fielded 9 players that weren't even from these shores.
An absolte clusterfuck of a result and the hashtag #BteamBoycott and the @checkatrade twitter account made good reading.. Certainly had a more aggressive defence than we did!

Re: Everton Reserves in the cock up cup
Imagine if you are a supporter of a club in league's one or two. One who has rarely or ever been higher. And you finally, get some glory and a trip to Wembley in the Checkatrade trophy....
Of you troop all giddy with excitement as coachloads of fans make it down to Wembley...
You're playing Everton U23's (Or any other U23 team in it) who bring 1000 fans so Wembley is 1/4 full for your big day and your team is playing an expensively assembled reserve side.....
Yeah. That is exactly what is wrong with this competition.
In the past it was a chance for glory for the lower league clubs. And the final would be (usually) between two sides desperate to win and in the same boat....
Now you could rock up to see no opposition fans and a team fielding a player who cost more than your entire club would to buy.

Worth the watch, just for Madine's fine effort at the end.
