88-4. Hales and Vince both gone again, Ballance still on 0. These three have to be dropped methinks.

Don't worry. England are good at dropping things.Worthy4England wrote:88-4. Hales and Vince both gone again, Ballance still on 0. These three have to be dropped methinks.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
So, all we have to do is get their whole side out for under 24 runs to win. Easy.......very achievable.....cough.

Just lend them Hales, Vince and Ballance.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
So here we are playing Bangladesh and 88-4 (edit 105-5). No Hales, No Vince, but I see we still have Gary Ballance.
Cook/Root you put down to "one of those days" given their record. Duckett - give him a chance (I'd have played Hameed but there we have it). Ballance has hit about 350 runs in his last 19/20 Test Innings. Carrying a spare at the moment....

Time hasn't been my own this last three weeks to comment too much on anything, but we could do with a couple of wickets right now. Pretty much anything can happen at the mo, but they could grab an advantage here if we don't strike. All about spin right now....

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Certainly interesting. Skittle 'em then notalot for 5. This time next year, it's the Ashes...we need to find an opener and someone's gran to replace Ballance.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
I think Hameed is the likely long term option at the top of the order. I think he'll come into his own when Cook retires. Until then if paired together we've got a lot of very dull first sessions to sit through. I can see why they went for Duckett this time to try to complement cook.
On paper ballance is the only steady option in the middle order surrounded by stroke players. Again, I understand why he was picked but he won't be there much longer.
Maybe for the next 12 months it's best to aim for cook Hameed root Duckett as a top 4

They can bore me to 200-0 every game.
I hear what you're saying about Ballance being a steady option - but he's anything but steady, the last 12 months. Gubbins could have a crack as opener too, maybe bring Cook in to steady the ship.

Bangladesh 253-8 and need 33 to win at stumps. A gripper..it surely is...

I assume we've collectively decided that it's best not to reflect on this morning's calamity?
Fair play to Bangladesh though, particularly their young spinner Hasan. To take 19 wickets in a two match test series takes some doing, especially when they're your first two test matches.
