Especially about him being a 'nice person' but to ban him is ridiculous and worrying.

Whilst agreeing totally at the nonsense by the fanatical, generally, the people who truly believe in God in the western world are secure enough in their beliefs to let the rest believe what they will. They don't see the need to be offended or mock anyone. Outrage is human frailty, not religion.

Remember the hoo ha about the book, The Da Vinci Code? An absolutely crackingly clever and purely fictional story (with a big emphasis on story by an intelligent author who made a bomb leading everybody by the noses. Of all the gullible who got offended in a religious sense, the least reaction came not from those who set off for Rome on a mystery tour, but from the Vatican who just laughed. They didn't refuse permission for scenes from the movie to be filmed inside the Vatican as outrage, they just didn't want a circus made of Christianity by Hollywood money moguls. Dan Brown probably had a good laugh and moved on to his next book.
Could you imagine a similar film based around Islam, rather than Christianity? It'd end up as an absolute bloodbath

Indeed it would BB. Salman Rushdi just wrote a book and became the Muslim world's "most wanted"......dead, that is..

By 'poppy nonsense' I'm guessing he means the faux-outrage you get every year if someone has the temerity to appear on TV, or indeed anywhere, without a poppy. Then you get the people who write 'Why I will/won't be wearing a poppy this year' articles etc. Then you get the social media Hobohs saying 'if you don't want to wear a poppy you should leave the country/be put in prison/shot'.

How about if people want to wear a poppy they wear one and we just leave it at that? Wear two poppies if you want people to know just how hard you are remembering.

Well exactly. Apparently it's a thing whether England can have them on their shirts. Who f*cking cares.

Given poppies are about remembrance, I'm assuming the corrupt wankers have banned black arm bands and minute silences and applauses.

Why include me?

Poppy wearing is a personal thing, some of people like to mark respect for their grandparents that's all.

I certainly think the teams should be allowed a choice, don't you?. It's not exactly offending anybody is it?

Personally not overly bothered. I wore one at the football the other day, but not arsed if anybody else was, or wasn't

I was allowed though, because I wanted to. Should I not have been?

^ its the furore that would follow should one of the players be brave enough to say "I'd prefer not to wear one". The abuse McLean got for refusing to wear one in the premiership was awful. Why anyone would expect him to wear one, given his background, is beyond me

Answering that question would force me to decide whether or not I care

I mean, sure, if pressed I think they should be able to choose, but the extent to which I care either way is about 1/10. If Fifa have decided otherwise, well, who knew Fifa were a bit nuts. Wear one before, wear one after, it's all fine.

To be fair to Fifa (can't believe I'm writing that!) they did fine Argentina for that. About a tenner mind, but then again I suppose they treated it about as seriously as they do racism.

You clearly do care, as your spending time moaning about it

No, I'm moaning about other people going on about it. Every f*cking year it's two weeks of the Daily Mail saying anyone who doesn't wear a poppy should be shot and then Stop the War saying anyone who does is a Nazi. I don't think there are any new arguments, and it doesn't matter.

At least the Art.50 thing has given my timeline, Facebook page and the papers a break from talking about poppies, mind.
