Re: What are you watching tonight?
The Long Good Friday. This may seem a premature viewing but it's so good any time of the year is permitted.
This was the film that first brought Bob Hoskins to public attention, and a who's who of future names. The soundtrack is horribly dated and the storyline isn't explained until well into the final third but this is one of the best British films ever made.
Some memorable quotes such as "you don't go crucifying people outside a church, not on Good Friday"
If you've never seen this release, pick up a copy as soon as you can it's well worth a couple of hours of anyone's time.

Hey Orton, unusual to see you anywhere but the football forum, but welcome back anyway.OrtonCakeBingoBongo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 12, 2017 12:35 amThe Long Good Friday. This may seem a premature viewing but it's so good any time of the year is permitted.

Long Good Friday is a real golden oldie and seems a long time back now. Good film though.

9.05 on Freeview 24 tonight for a re watch of the old classic: The Dirty Dozen. As this sort of film goes, few have touched it for entertainment even though it's fifty years old. .

Oh dear. BBC television's agenda to ram utterly shite 'comedy' at us has another notch to its belt. Recorded something entitled 'Hospital People' on Saturday, I've somehow managed to stand 15 minutes worth. Utterly 4ucking dreadful.
To be added to the list that already contains Mrs Brown's Boys, c*nt Arthur Strong and Citizen Khan. Seriously - that bad!

Re: What are you watching tonight?
I kindda hate myself for having never heard of 'Comedians in cars getting coffee' before Rob Brydon talked about it on the Adam Buxton podcast, but ive been rifling through episodes lately! its easy coz they're only about 15 minutes each. Basically a rip off of Carpool but its Jerry Seinfeld talking to other comedians while driving some old classic car to a coffee shop. its really great! well the conversation is really great but the very American format does grate a bit! it would work better as another podcast actually...
Re: What are you watching tonight?
Fleabag's incredibly good. Loved it.
Re: What are you watching tonight?
Yep. Fleabag + 1. Thought I wouldn't like it, but really did.

Old Louis Theroux with the missus. About Ultra Zionists in Israel. Our narrator goes along to a circumcision ceremony, and the Rabbi is in the full gear including the little tefillin box on his head.

A truly magnificent film with some exceptional performances, especially from the kid. Prepare to be moved.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Glad you watched that Bruce. As I said at the time, a massively controversial film; but a necessary one.

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Many thanks for the recco, Tango. It never occurred to me the levels to which this was being covered up. Highly controversial, as you say, but absolutely necessary.TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2017 2:03 pmGlad you watched that Bruce. Re: What are you watching tonight?
I've been binge watching the (mostly dreadful) second series of Twin Peaks ahead of the new series next week. Coming towards the end now when it really picks up with Windom Earle having some fun. The first 7-8 episodes are superb. Then it goes rapidly downhill, then picks up again!
