...so when we next play Cardiff and again beat them two nil it'll be Warnock's fault, not Madine's.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
To be honest mate the only reason I'd give a tin shit about Madine at Cardiff is if we've got bonuses riding on it.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2018 8:34 pmIt's obvious the key with Madine was getting his head sorted. Or creating an environment where he could at least feel comfortable.
He has the talent it was whether he could apply himself. He did here but Warnock might not offer the same style.
But you raise an interesting point. Looking at Madine's performance per manager:
...there's a clear divide between the three managers for whom he's done well – Parky, Carlisle gaffer Greg Abbott (admittedly at a lower level) and dear old Megson – and the rest, for whom he frankly hasn't.
And if we look at his performance per division:
...I think it's fairly obvious that Parky has got him playing at a level above his previous ability. So whether that's "sorting his head out" or good management, credit to Parky and the player, and let's hope Parky can do it again, because we're more likely to be hiring damaged goods than the finished article.

And if Parky can keep turning players careers round we can get used to selling the family silver every window. Now if we can just get him into developing our own youth players...

Slightly older than what you mean, I know, but he did a decent job with Zach and Vela... if we can get on something like an even financial keel, we might just be able to keep that type of player for longer.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2018 8:56 pmAnd if Parky can keep turning players careers round we can get used to selling the family silver every window. Just a thought, if we are offering money for Macgennis, does that suggest the Madine fee is on the higher side of the current numbers being floated around? Suggests we have got more than enough to keep the lights on...

Perhaps partly that, perhaps desperation. Had he gone on New Year's Day, we might have shopped about a bit. We've now got two hours.bristol_Wanderer3 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2018 9:00 pmJust a thought, if we are offering money for Macgennis, does that suggest the Madine fee is on the higher side of the current numbers being floated around? How nice it would be if the managers had control of the purse strings instead of the accountants. We'd probably all go broke but see a bit of football doing it. Two hours is a shining example of executive chess . Watch this space...well, any space.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2018 9:03 pmPerhaps partly that, perhaps desperation. That " Visit Malaysia" T-shirt just about says it all about football today. Visiting Wembley used to be an event.

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
One hour and fifty minutes left without a significant hint of any other 'ordinary' players coming in, never mind 'good', and we can (and to be honest always could) dismiss any 'spectacular' arrivals.
In the manner of a parliamentary committee, I want to hear what Parkinson has to say about this tomorrow.

Cardiff fans are almost unanimous in their regard that those figures are for public consumption in the north west.bristol_Wanderer3 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2018 9:16 pmBeen reported as £6m up front, plus £2m in bonuses in the BEN:

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
Well, carefully phrased as "it has been reported as" that amount, which means not from within the club. Basically, in The Sun.bristol_Wanderer3 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 31, 2018 9:16 pmBeen reported as £6m up front, plus £2m in bonuses in the BEN:

Ah well, Ken will be a winner today, or at least his bank account will be. . If that sounds trite, it's really disappointment.

Can't blame Ken really. He managed above and beyond expectations last season and he's got a huge shortfall in income looming large. If it is £6m up front (big if I know )then it's a reasonably good deal

Re: The Promotion Commotion Transfer Thread 2017
If its anywhere near £6M then well done KA, who would have thought a few months ago we'd sell Madine for such a fee....and you can't blame Madine for swapping a relegation battle for a promotion push, and a decent pay day with signing on fee etc and higher wages.
If I was Parkinson though I'd be flapping, as he now needs to learn quickly how to set a team up to play football & not hoofball

I'm reasonably sure that no more breaking news is about to erupt, so I'm off to bed (very early start tomorrow). I'll tune in for the inquest then.

If he’s got £5mil plus and it pays that blue marble loan fair feck*
I fear it’s half that and we’ve gone back 10 years to do our transfer business again.
I hope Warnock let’s slip what we got. I doubt Iles has the cajones to find out.
