£200,000 is apparently what we are paying for Magennis….

£200k is incredibly good business.

200k isn't even a fee in football now. It's barely a signing bonus. If he does anything at all he'll be a bargain.

Supposedly we've sorted out a deal for another forward as well. Permanent transfer, quite a bit more than Magennis. No idea if anyone has posted any emojis or anything.
Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Very interesting.
If we're going 451 and Magennis is the main man, we're downer than a very down thing. If he's not the main man, we've finally spent money on someone who is arguably 3rd choice for one spot.
Alternatively, we're going 4-4-f*cking-2. BWFCi will have kittens because he's an absolutist but I argued we should've gone that way last year. Worked for Dyche's Burnley twice. We'd be relying on Magennis, Donaldson and mystery new striker to do a lot of (Vokes) running to cover Alf's Ings. We'll lose the midfield most weeks and it won't be intricate, but, especially if Jedi returns, we'll be electric down the flanks. Probably suits Vela and Lowe to have to do a bit of everything rather than specialise. In that formation Magennis is basically Darren as a striker.
F*ck knows where Ozi fits in that though.

Guy I know at the Evening Post mentioned it when news of Magennis broke. I didn't think it mattered that we'd sorted terms for someone else as Magennis seemed done and dusted. Seemingly it's still a goer, though. Thinks it's just agreed a fee thus far, no idea about the rest. Also don't know the player, but if it's Yorkshire beat then it'll make the post on Monday I'd imagine.

...I realise that's the most useless and least "ITK" bit of info ever, by the way.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
As I alluded to earlier in this thread, I think Parky has eaten something and is suffering from a severe case of Ossie Ardiles syndrome. If today is anything to go by he is going to go 4-4-2 and it looks like we are just going to go toe to toe with everyone and try and score more goals than them. Wheavers won't be getting too much protection and must be quietly shitting themselves. So am I. It won't be boring, that is for sure.Prufrock wrote: ↑Sat Jul 28, 2018 8:39 pmVery interesting.

Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
I'm genuinely shocked that we look like going 4-4-2, but I'll be pleased to see us going for the throat more this season.
Totally changes how I view the squad and what we need and also, for the first time in years, means we need to think about strike partnerships.
Think I'm going to West Brom now.

Looks like Iles and Nixon are hinting that the Wyke deal is on.

I'm genuinely incapable of saying 442 (as opposed to FourFourTwo) aloud without calling it 4-4-f*cking-2!

Do we really need to be spending cash on both of them? This isn't an issue we've had for a long time, but given the squad requirements it woukd seem strange to spend all our cash on two similar players.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 1:38 amLooks like Iles and Nixon are hinting that the Wyke deal is on.

Nixon appears to favour the right wing.

The Sun has us chasing Boris Mathis on loan, a French striker on Everton's books?

His loan at Northampton got cut short because of his attitude. Would be very underwhelmed if this is true!TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 11:48 amThe Sun has us chasing Boris Mathis on loan, a French striker on Everton's books?

Especially when Blackburn are being linked to young City striker Lucas Nmecha, who actually looks a top talent.jmjhb wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 11:54 amHis loan at Northampton got cut short because of his attitude. Re: Reconstruction time again: the summer 2018 transfer thread
Parky is suggesting the formation yesterday was 4-2-3-1, with ALF essentially in the Vela role, and Vela forming a 2 with Lowe.
Iles is suggesting Parky wants another striker in addition to Magennis, and that he is considering spending the bulk of his remaining budget on an attacking midfielder or a fifth striker. Still not sure what Parky is thinking here, but he seems to be focused purely on attacking!!
