That's pretty much what we're doing with regards food/speech. Losing that year from nursery has impacted his development, we feel. But, they say he's made up a lot in the short space of time he's been back so that's a plus.Gary the Enfield wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2017 1:04 pmAG thanks for the update. If it helps, when my boy was Freddie's age he ate poorly too. He wasn't fussy as such, just didn't like too much variety. We figured what the hell, he can eat what he wants, if it helps him gain weight. So we did that, for a while. Meal preparations became less stressful and he gained weight.Annoyed Grunt wrote: ↑Thu Mar 30, 2017 10:07 pmHe's still doing well. Although his development seems to be hindered somewhat. He's not eating as other kids are. He won't eat at nursery, so goes pretty much all day without food and then wolfs down his tea. His speech isn't that of an almost 3 year old, he can only say single words, no sentences. But, he's still here and that's the main thing.
You were all fantastic sponsoring me last year, I'm doing Ride London again this year. Also, I've pledged that if I can get to £600, I'll shave my head. If you can spare some money I would be grateful https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ ... anthwaite1
As for the speech we found that reading both with him and on his own developed his speech fantastically well. We would read books sporadically through the day and bedtime routine always concluded with a story. There should be a speech and language specialist at the local hospital you could speak to for this.
Good luck in Ride London. Haven't been on the bike in six months..........
Oh and thank you so much for the donation.

Glad to hear. Hope he'll get over the trauma and catch up soon . Irrespective, fcuk it, you've still got your boy and I'm delighted for you.

Exactly. We can deal with everything else, he's still here. Other kids with come into contact with/have know haven't been as fortunate.
Thanks for the donation as well, it's much appreciated. Slightly nervous I'll get to the £600 mark, as I've agreed to shave my head if I do.
Re: TW Members. Introspection on an Epic scale.
Don't worry, i shave my head and I'm a reet handsome bastard!

Re: TW Members. Introspection on an Epic scale.
Right, a quick update. Massive thank you to Bill Pithers for his generous donation (I will, I can wear a cycling cap and we do forgive you). As you can see, we're on holiday, our first since Freddie's transplant. Without Anthony Nolan he wouldn't be stood there triumphantly holding his chocolate bar. I'm currently at £501. Half way to my target and £99 from shaving my head.
So, I'm asking you again to sponsor me....not just because that little boy in the picture gets to enjoy more holidays with his family, but you're helping other families in the same situation get what we got...a second chance. For those that have then thank you, if you haven't then please do so and help save other lives. I know I keep banging on about it (and lost FB friends because of it) but I do because it's so important.
Anyway....enjoy your Bank Holiday....and throw a few quid into the pot....https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ ... anthwaite1

Hi.
I know it’s been quite some time since I’ve been on, I thought I would update you on Freddie. Three years ago today, he rang the end of treatment bell. He’s gone from strength to strength with regards his health. His eating probably isn’t where we’d like it to be, but he’s been signed off by the dietician though so he’s making progress. This is quite cheeky of me but next year I’m taking on 7 cycling challenges, details are here https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ ... anthwaite3 if you could spare a few quid, I’d be eternally grateful.

I agree. Great to hear AG and good luck with the fund raising. A nice post after all the negativity this year.
