Backs to the Millwall, Sat 9/3 3pm
Let’s capitalise on website traffic and get a match day thread going.
Will the police get paid and turn up (you’d hope so given the opposition)?
Will the orange warriors be in situ? Meeting tomorrow at the Council re the safety certificate. Obviously no 5-O and no stewards = no game. I imagine that’s unprecedented so another first on the cards?
Noone and Wheater suspended. Magennis probably out; The Don as well? Both injured on Saturday, and probably down the GP in a queue with your nan for an appointment. Seem to recall teams in this situation end up with more youth players in the side by the end to avoid paying bonuses etc...could it be the cheapest side available is the one picked?

Like mill walls (if not Millwall) Nothing new for me, I lived almost twenty years opposite an old mill wall. It was stone, not brick, so not quite grim, more interesting. Led to adventure land as kids.
As for the match, I'd imagine the visitors on Saturday will still be wondering why the pies (pasties) haven't come when the final whistle goes as it stands right now. Not to think too deeply on it, but it could be a real circus if things don't get sorted. Have we paid the programme printers and the car park attendants?

If the fixture's cancelled and the league thinks there's any doubt about us fulfilling future ones, that could be the end game itself couldn't it? Our records expunged (?) & the division being reduced to 23 teams. The only precedent I can think of would be Maidstone about 20 years ago.
To follow on from such cheeriness, if it does go ahead - a 0-2 defeat.

Fixture expunging also happened with Aldershot in 91/92 (after 36 games) and Accy thirty years earlier. It’d be a boost for Birmingham...

I was going to this one, recent events have dulled my enthusiasm.
2-0.
2-0.

EFL making noises about fulfilling the fixture.
Living in a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its mill architecture I can confidently say that stone v brick is a false dichotomy. We have both. Neither are grim.
Millwall on the other hand are grim at the best of times. Fxck 'em: 6 nil to us.

What you need is to borrow my future Tesla model S.
But, legal disclaimer, you need your own flux capacitor and need to be beneath the clock at 10:04pm...

Re: Backs to the Millwall, Sat 9/3 3pm
A team of valiant supporters have volunteered to step up and play for free on Queens Park should Millwall arrive and find the Unibol shut. If Millwall aren't afraid to play, Marc Iles will be in goal, Tony Kelly and Alan Nixon will play backs and Ivan Campo will come if Neville will give him a free haircut. The rest are Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb....with John McGinlay as lone striker. They will have to play as Christ Church Wanderers or K.A. wants a cut of any money collected using Bolton's name.

Give all this off-field tomfoolery, it'll be a minor miracle if we win on Saturday

This has the potential to be the shortest match thread ever.

Haha
If it’s called off it will be one of the longest in recent history!
From catching up today it seems admin at BWFC have been in communication with the Council and police. They have until lunchtime tomorrow to provide “comfort” the necessary safety measures can be implemented.
I’ll be very surprised if it isn’t on...Council won’t want to be behind a points deduction/fine no matter who is to blame.

If there's one game in a season where you want to be sure security is robust, it's bloody Millwall

Re: Backs to the Millwall, Sat 9/3 3pm
If t'council weren't satisfied this afternoon that the game could go ahead, I struggle to see what the club can do by tomorrow lunchtime that will change their minds.
It seems very unlikely anyone will blame the council if it is called off.

Club have written to the council (as opposed to a public ‘Chairman’s notes’) since the meeting. Not sure what they have said or the response to it but there has been dialogue.

On the plus side Bruce should have a ticket going spare. When I say plus ...

Apropos of not much except I was thinking of Ireland, and suddenly thought....hey, whatever happened to Stephen Ireland our saviour in disguise? So what did?
