Quiz o'clock

Post by Dave Sutton's barnet » Fri Apr 12, 2019 12:52 pm

Given the popularity of the quiz I set to name every player to make a league appearance since we got relegated from the Prem -

https://www.sporcle.com/games/GaryParki ... -wanderers

- I thought I'd make another one, and even start a thread.

So here's your Friday lunchtime teaser. Let me take you back to 2003/04, a fine season which took us to the League Cup final and the top eight (for the first time since 1960). How many heroes can you name? You've got 10 minutes...

Good one. I got 21. The top 15 and then 6 down the bottom.

Well, I typed in Campo. Then attempted Djorkaeff, and halfway through realised I had no idea how to spell his name, hit quit, thinking that would reset me back to the beginning, only to be told I'd got 3% and revealing all the rest of the answers in red. It would now be cheating for me to try again having seen the answers. So I'll settle for 3%

13. An absolute embarrassment. 2 of those I got by typing in "common English names" which netted me 2 "zero" appearances. 1 I got because the name is included in a longer name which I correctly answered.

Got 22. First 16, the two big names, Bambi, and a few of the kids.

Way pre-Morais, 3rd from bottom was the original "postman". Not because he "always delivered" but because we signed him from non-league where he'd been working as a postman.

Got 22. The first 18 pretty easy.

But I missed one in the bottom half who I really shouldn't have. Did get the one 4th from bottom which I think was pretty good memory!

Missed out on the sub keeper. I tried all the ones from around that era except him.

Of the 3 spell check nightmares only 1 I couldn't get. Got a smattering of the kids/reserves

More please DSB!

I feel your pain with the spellcheck names - I can't see any "that's near enough" buttons and dials in the back end.

Another one next week, from another happy happy season.

Got 18 but couldn’t spell Stelios’ surname or Otsemoboor so I’m having 20!

Barness I thought left earlier and couldn’t remember the keeper Pooles name!

Top points for anyone who got Ricky Shakes and Charlie Comyn Platt!

I did! Fondly remembered in our house for pissing John Aldridge off with a last minute equaliser in some cup tie v Tranmere which the shithouse was commentating on. Went onto have a reasonable career with Swindon.

I got shakes as well. Scored possibly the only BWFC goal that has pissed me off. It was in injury time and was a miserable midweek cup replay. Me and my dad were on the concourse on the way out of the ground when the goal went in. Stupidly we went back in and sat there for extra time to just see us lose again.

Sorry sorry sorry, forgot. I know it's an old excuse but I've been busy recording Neil Young covers.

Something a bit different this week. Back to Rioch's first season, but you have five minutes to name the opponents. Reasonable simple names should suffice (eg "Wigan" rather than "WIgan Athletic" but not "Bristol"). Scores with an *asterisk* are opponents in various cups. Enjoy!
