Seeking help for L1 18/19 Season Review / Summer Preview

Post by UbiFides » Tue Jun 11, 2019 3:38 pm

Hi all,

Tranmere fan here in peace.

As newly minted league members, I'm looking to put together a fan-sourced and fan-made division wide round-up and was hoping I could find one or two of you willing to write something in the following format for Bolton:

**Club Name**
Manager (or likely candidates)
Tenure (of current manager if applicable)
Ownership Situation: (appreciate this may run long for some in the division)
Main Fan Forum:

Star Player:
Underappreciated Gem:
Top Prospect:
Potential 19/20 Breakout Year:
Fan Scapegoat:
Waste of Space:
Dream Transfer Target:

18/19 Season Review: (< 200 words)
Tactical Overview: (< 200 words)
Plans & Priorities for Preseason: (< 200 words)

Part One is here if you want to get an example of the sort of thing teams have written so far: https://ubifides.com/2019/06/09/the-leag...r-preview/

If people are interested I'll post the part of the round-up with Bolton here once I've got a contributor.

Ta lads.

Errrr - have you been watching what's going on? We currently hardly have any players and don't know which ones we'll still have in 2 weeks, we don't know if the manager will still be here, and whilst it looks optimistic the Club will still be here, we ain't sure about that either!

Bolton Wanderers
Phil Parkinson
3 years
Watch this space!
Star Player: Gary O'Neill
Under appreciated gem: Jason Lowe
Top prospect: Luca Connell. He'll be gone before mid August.
Potential breakout year: Any young professionals who are still on the books.
Fan scapegoat: Will Buckley
Waste of space: Will Buckley
Dream transfer target: A fit Zach Clough

18/19 review - A players strike in pre season, an amazing start that no one predicted, followed by 9 months of tedium and guessing each week how many we were going to lose by. A manager working in incredibly difficult circumstances who chose to make things harder for himself by either alienating some players or being clueless how best to use others. We limped along to the seasons end just waiting for the inevitable relegation before another players strike finished things off nicely.

Tactical overview: Lump it up to a big man. It doesn't matter if you don't have a big man, he's slow, isolated or Clayton Donaldson, just keep repeating. Formation tended to be either 4-3-2-1 or 3-5-2. They both worked as badly as each other.

Plans and priorities for pre season: Get new owners that can guarantee us still being here. With only 6 players left under contract - all of whom are currently free to leave due to not being paid - recruit several new players. Preferably young and hungry, realistically - cheap and unwanted.

This isn't the right thread for it but I think he'll return for a third spell next season if we're playing under a new manager.
