Yes I can agree that Sullivan (in this case) could create separate companies to purchase the hotel/land/stadium and rent the stadium to the football club on a commercial basis. How the EFL would see assets leaving the company that consists of the club, thus reducing the value of the club and being transferred to the owner of another club would be interesting but I could see how it is at least a grey area.

It seems to raise ethical questions around competition? Man City's owners, for example, could buy the assets of every club that has financial issues (any or most of the 72 clubs outside the Prem at some point), and thus has direct influence over the decisions that club makes? "Sell us that talented youth player or we put the rent up...."

I could see there being a problem if Bolton and West Ham were both in the Prem and the Contract allowed Sullivan to treble the rent (as an example), but then he could buy it through another company in which he didn't have a majority shareholding, potentially. I don't think the problem is necessarily assets leaving Clubs - liquidated and paying off the debt by then selling the assets is no better. The problem is around who can own the assets.

Well I can understand why David Sullivan, who doesn't own his own ground, and has a cap on the profit he can make because the owners of his ground can charge full whack (basically a 100% tax) on every single seat sold over the 60,000 seat limit, even though the stadium holds more, would want to have financial control over somebody else's stadium's seating charges.
It's a fxcking mess. It's not Ken Anderson or David Sullivan or Eddie Davies or Uncle Tom Cobley's mess - it's the fxcking mess of FIFA, UEFA, The FA, and EFL's fxcking mess...
Will they suffer? Will they fxck. You and I will.

Didn't listen to it but reports saying Sullivan gave him £25m to buy us. I wouldn't believe anything this clown said unless independently confirmed.

We note with dismay the interview given by Laurence Bassini to TalkSPORT this morning.

The simple fact is, for several reasons, Mr Bassini was not the successful bidder under the process we have carried out to sell Bolton Wanderers.

His bid was not the best for the club. Moreover, he was not able to satisfy either the proof or source of funding to the satisfaction of the process or within the proscribed timeframe. That remains the case.

Subsequently, Mr Bassini has sent a vast number of erratic and threatening emails and text messages, as well as making threatening calls, to the point where we have instructed lawyers to deal with them.

We will be making no further comment about Mr Bassini or his claims.

Personally, I think Shazza & Co are as deluded (not necessarily in a mental sense, but in a financial one).

Yep there are multiple tests. Owners and directors test essentially measures whether the owners and directors proposed in the change of control process are eligible to takeover the football club according to EFL rules. The rules are clearly set out. Bassini checked with EFL that he would pass said test.

The source of funds and proof of funds - very different though - EFL said he never passsed it. Admins saying the same now.

I guess its easy to pass the EFL "fit and proper" test given it appears to be "are you a wrong 'un?" "Yes" "Ummm when was the last naughty thing you did?" "Few years back" "Ok - you're fine". Actually having the money though - bit of a barrier.

I'd argue Anderson is the bigger fantasist than Bassini. I'd doubly argue that in narcissism Bassini makes Anderson look like an amateur!!!!
