Re: The Weather
Looks like I was merely on the periphery. We lost leccy for about 45 minutes, others apparently not so lucky. I'm also hearing rumours it was those pesky Russians rather than the weather, but I'll take that one with a pinch of salt.Burnden Paddock wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 5:56 pmLost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2019 5:22 pmRaining stairrods and our electric supply fxcking goes. Can't see fxck all inside because it's too dark, can't go outside because it's chucking water and lightning about like nobody's business. Fxcking weather!
Not just you Spotty! Much of London and the South East, plus areas further North. It'll no doubt reach Horwich and the Coventry game will be off!

Re: The Weather
Arrived at Old Dungeon Ghyll this afternoon, to find sodden roads, grey skies, and clouds obscuring anything higher than a gnat's bollock.
After meandering about Ambleside, and a quick trip to Keswick, plus marching the wife up The Band in order to give the dog a runaround, come back down to the Hikers Bar and am now sat in glorious golden sunshine with blue skies.
Be warned AT, I'm coming for ya!

Went up Dungeon Ghyll in pissing rain once and quite literally got washed back down. The amount of water that started coming over the top just seriously scary.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Fri Aug 23, 2019 6:08 pmArrived at Old Dungeon Ghyll this afternoon, to find sodden roads, grey skies, and clouds obscuring anything higher than a gnat's bollock.

Went in to Ambleside and did as I always do. Straight into The Apple Pie Cafe for a toasted Bath bun and a hot chocolate - and calmness fell all around

No joke, the sun is really cracking the flags down here.

Hahaha Glad that multiple English people's holidays are ruined on the unlikely basis that it might piss off some Scottish politician who is used to it!Hoboh wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 1:54 pmSorry for you mate, but good! anything that pees down on that wee runt Krankie and her patch is good for me.Lost Leopard Spot wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2019 5:29 pmArrived in far northwest Scotland... She's pasty as fook! She'll hate the sun. Rethink needed.

I hope it was a gust. If it was sustained you're in a category 1 hurricane!Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 6:14 pmWee bit blowy out there today. Weather station down the road recorded 87mph earlier

Re: The Weather
It was, but not an isolated one. Was a wild night for sure with electricity going out for some. More today, though not quite that strong. The poor buggers out on Lewis had over 100mph at one point yesterday.Montreal Wanderer wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 3:09 amI hope it was a gust. Do they not class that as normal winter weather up there and the new kid on the block is just discovering it? No snow?Abdoulaye's Twin wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 7:53 amIt was, but not an isolated one. Re: The Weather
It's normal in that we get very windy weather all the time, but the strength and duration like this is a lot less frequent. I'm told every few years we get over 100 mph winds, but not experienced that so far. I'd say the strength of the winds yesterday was the second time since being here. It's windier this year than last, but milder.Hoboh wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 10:23 amDo they not class that as normal winter weather up there and the new kid on the block is just discovering it? Snow on the hills and in the mountains, but only hail lower down.
What I will say is the locals moan about the cold when I'm wearing a t-shirt. You'd think they'd be more used to it than I!
