Yeah, but you wouldn't want to go into the loo after him, the morning after.

Re: The athletics/running thread
So, popped down to watch Ironman yesterday with BP and Enfield. What an absolute privilege it is that our town hosts this. Every contestant an absolute fecking legend. Everybody involved in the organisation and the set up (and take down) incredible. Small beer though it is, it was fantastic to do the 5K on Friday evening, cross the line at the foot of the Town Hall steps and have a finishers medal put round my neck by the Lady Mayor, Cllr Hilary Fairclough.
What a weekend to be a Boltonian.

It's a great event. Reminds me of watching the Bolton marathon as a kid. Hope that comes back at some point.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Mon Jul 15, 2019 7:55 pmSo, popped down to watch Ironman yesterday with BP and Enfield. Tbf it is indeed a fantastic event and one that the whole town should be proud to have on its streets.

Went out for a run with my oldest son for the first time ever this week. 2.5 hot, humid miles. I don’t give it long til he’s faster then me (not hard at the moment tbf).

Faster than you, or doesn’t want to be seen with you. Whichever comes first!

Aye, he can do 5k. Lever End and better half are going to come and do it too so you can join them and Jack. I’ll come for brekkie afterwards!Burnden Paddock wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 1:00 pmOnly because you buy him Match Atax and the MOTD magazine!Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 12:35 pmHey! The match attax came free with the mag! They’re bloody expensive these days in packets. I’m sure when I collected football stickers they were only about 25p a packet. Them were the days. Italia 90 was my first football sticker album back at the end of the 80’s.

I’m not sure that a hungover LE will be the perfect role model for Jack Tbf. I’ll give something back and run with Jack, whilst they ‘run in ahead’!Gooner Girl wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 1:08 pmAye, he can do 5k. My first album was Argentina ‘78 which was a pack with cards and bubblegum. Don’t think stickers were invented for a year or two after. Collected the Panini English and Scottish league stickers after that. The gold and silver badges were a thing of beauty to the 10yo me.

First big match I knew of was the 75 FA Cup Final. No memory whatsoever of the 76 Euros. Far too young!Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 1:35 pmKnow-nowt-youthBurnden Paddock wrote: ↑Sat Aug 10, 2019 1:26 pm

England failed to qualify (of course).
In fact, I'm pretty sure that in all my time at school (Sept 72 - May 82) I never saw England play in the finals of anything.
The host nation, Czechoslovakia, beat West Germany in the final.
You'll be telling me that you're too young to remember Czechoslovakia next

Is that your actual album in the photo Bruce? Did you whip it out of it’s prize location in the drawer next to your bed?!

Sadly not, GG. Along with all sorts of other treasured memorabilia, my mother threw it out about 30 seconds after I'd moved out.
Thankfully, Our Kid managed to rescue the other printed material in my bedside drawer before she got to it

Espana 82 was definitely the first finals I saw England play in. I had the home shirt which is still the best England shirt ever!
I also had a trackie and trainers with the Argentina 78 World Cup mascot on them. I thought I was the dogs bollox!
