If Oz hadn't wasted their last review........
But what a superb achievement by big Ben both with bat and ball, a veritable one man army,,,
FIGHT! I said, and he did. Hero, give him a bronze statue....

Absolute scenes.
Really thought they'd fooked it after lunch.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
feck me. Scenes. Little bit of help from Harris, Paine, Cummins and Lyon but that is incredible. Well done Jack Leach. No more words for Stokes. Ludicrous cricketer.

If ever there was a "Cometh the hour, cometh the man" example, this is surely it. Can't wait for 7-0'clock on Channel 5 to live it all again... FIGHT.....

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
He absolutely destroyed the Oz with a one man hero show; (bet there are some long faces in the kangaroo camp tonight) but let's not forget he couldn't have done it without Jack Leach's help. Here's to him.. Astonishing, almost unbelievable day's cricket.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 6:18 pmBen Stokes batting in that heat from 11am until gone 4pm. A ginge as well. Access TW from your phone, click on the pic and save image. Pissed myself laughing when he popped up on the screen.

Haha yeah that got a big cheer in the pub. Pecked away for two hours from about 12 to be allowed to watch it. Persuaded the non-sporters to finally drag into a pub by which time Archer was in and then hoiked out. Then Broad gone. Thought we'd be out again soon. Explaining the fielding and why Stokes' wasn't taking singles etc Absolute scenes by the end as the whole pub went mental.
World Cup was great but there's nothing like test cricket.

Ha ha, just watch those barons of bandwaggon jumping, "The Sun", leap forth in praise of the team they were writing off as shxt only this morning...Hypocrites.....

Just love Stokes' reaction to his hundred. Basically nothing. Quick nod, back to his guard. Cf. Dhoni at the world cup batting for himself and his average.
Fecking Boycott acclaiming Stokes. He'd have been up the other end with 75 to get shouting "good luck, Jack'.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
An admirable finish to an absorbing Ashes test match. My man of the match is Jack Leach. Seventy odd runs to safety must have seemed a very tall mountain to climb. I am well aware of Stokes' efforts to keep him away from the ball, but he still faced 17 balls (let's call it three overs), for one run, of the ten bowled after his entrance.
Of course we can't discount the earlier contributions of Root (77) and Denly (50) and then Bairstow with his 36 off 68 balls.
I was only listening to the BBC broadcast and not watching television (watching TV at early hours does not go down too well in my house) I got the impression, not one expressed by the commentators, that the Australian bowlers were 'panicking' as England got nearer and nearer to its target.
Congratulations to England for a valiant and successful fight back.
