Bury FC.
Sat here as a lifelong Shaker, 50 years!
Absolutely gutted and numb this morning.
Don't go the same way BWFC, and do whatever you can to preserve your club.
I live in Prestwich, grew up with a lot of Utd/City supporters-many plastic who never went- we all know them, and never saw yourselves
as main rivals!
As you did, I always wanted to win on match days, but the rivalry really ended there!
Best for the next 2 weeks.

Cheers bud. Horrible, horrible news for you guys and you have all our sympathy.
Hope that you can get sorted to come back somewhere next season and at some point we can reignite that rivalry.
Hoping we can get ours done asap. The frustrating thing (as you're no doubt aware) is that there is nothing that we can do other than sit, hope and wait.

Re: Bury FC.
I took my 6 year old to watch Bury get promoted in May - I never thought that it would be the first and last time he would ever get to watch them
He still loves watching this video I took of the occasion

Very sad that two dodgy businessmen can bring 135 years of history to an end...... lets hope we don't get the same result from KA who obviously cares more about his pocket than our club

Sad for you and all Bury fans mate. Dark day for football, and there'll be plenty more where that came from with current state of football finances.

Sorry to hear about your club. There's no point in a rivalry if your opposition isn't there.
Hopefully you will recover like AFC Wimbledon.

I guess it's a fight to save the ground for a new incarnation of Bury FC. Good luck to you all. Very sad this morning. The programme with the old fella on it really brought a lump to my throat. Really fantastic image to rally people round.

Re: Bury FC.
Hard lines. Unfortunately we’ve merged our sympathies with Bury in our own frustration/ anger / bereavement thread which doesn’t do it justice. I hope you get sorted.
You will all be welcome at our ground assuming we can get our shit together (seems to be my phrase of the day) for a game I am sure. Football rivalries to one side an all that.

Bye bye Bury FC.
I just hope we don't go the same way, but not overly optimistic.

Awful news - I feel really sorry for all Bury FC fans and employees this morning, it’s a very sad day but you will be back.
We are certainly not out of the woods yet, and this could be us soon enough.

What has happened is nothing short of a disgrace. If it isn't used as a huge wake up call for all of football then that will also be disgraceful.
I feel as bad seeing Bury go as I would seeing ourselves. It is gut wrenching for a community to have its heart ripped away like this over the greed and recklessness of corrupt owners. Truly and utterly horrifying.

Shaker01 - Hard to find the words, you must be totally devastated. Best wishes in re-forming and hope you end up as close to the league as is possible and you are back in a few years...

My dad took me to Gigg Lane a few times in the 70s & 80s. I saw you put 6 past Workington in the FA cup. They were a league side then too.
Feel your pain fella. Good luck with the comeback. Hopefully it won't be long

Re: Bury FC.
I think we all know your pain Shaker. You're our next door neighbours. We are hovering on the brink ourselves, and all because of financial greed amongst businessmen. Thoughts of all genuine football fans will be with you and sincerely hope you rise back and rebuild. I have some happy memories of the old Bury Palais and the Two Tubs pub. Best of luck mate.

Re: Bury FC.
Likewise, my mate's dad used to take us watching Wanderers one week and Bury the next in the Derek Spence era. Such fond memories.Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2019 9:33 amMy dad took me to Gigg Lane a few times in the 70s & 80s. I saw you put 6 past Workington in the FA cup. Re: Bury FC.
I'm another who frequently popped to Gigg Lane when Wanderers were way out of town. There was a time, before the binary parochialism of the internet era, when this was far from unusual. I have many happy memories which are now tinged with a sadness I never expected.
So sorry for you mate. Sorry and angry.

Thanks for your support guys-nice words!
Re: Bury FC.
Best wishes to all bury fans and the the staff at the club, you had some rotten luck being landed with consecutive chancers, at least we've only had the one.
Hope things work out for you.

Re: Bury FC.
Let's see...
* Anderson has nearly run the club into the ground...
* he got invited in, like a vampire at the window, because Holdsworth didn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of...
* before that we were on the court steps over an unpaid tax bill...
* that came about after our own version of The Golden Tit turned off the taps...
* Gartside presided over our glory years but also a period thereafter which saw us gamble more money than we had...
* he came in after Hargreaves and co oversaw such speculation (on ground and team) that we had to sell our best playing asset to the neighbours, sparking a manager's flounce-out...
They say all political careers end in failure. Maybe all chairmanships do too. But none as badly - he said, wrenching it back on-topic - as Bury's combo of Day and Dale. There but for the grace of God...
