The youngsters

The young lads that have played since the start of the season - thank you very much. You have stood up and been counted in a place many men beyond your years wouldn’t. I hope this is the start of professional careers for each one of you, and we sign some strong senior role models to support your development.

Last time round Jimmy played Garrett (Doncaster and Wimbledon), Walker (Stockport and Salford), Newell (Motherwell), Threlkeld (Plymouth and Salford) and Maher (Bury and Halifax) who have to differing degrees all gone on to play some standard of football.

Add in Clough Holding and Vela who got in anyway.

Hopefully one plus of this shit show will be done of kids (Brockbank, Darcy etc) make it with us. At least to start.

Absolute legends, all of them. Hopefully getting a run in the side means more make it than would have done otherwise.

There's a back up back 4 right there - Brockbank, Zouma, Edwards and White. I'd expect to see more of the first three throughout the season.

Politic and Darcy both look ready. King-Harmes will hopefully feature too.

Weir was a free transfer. Released by Hull in summer.

They'll forever have an important place in our story, no matter what the future holds for them. And I'll always be grateful for their willingness to step up and do their bit to keep us going when they were needed.

Of the "youngsters" who've played recently, Brockbank, Edwards and Politic are the ones who I'd have as ready to hold down a first-team place, with Darcy and Zouma not far behind in terms of their development (in Darcy's case, it might just be physical development). Of the even younger youngsters, there are a few I hope to see wearing our shirt again in a couple of years' time.

Yeah I think Zouma has work to do with how he uses the ball (among other things) but definitely one for the very near future for me.
