Bridcutt would be a cracking player at this level.

I’m Hoping budget wise a big chunks earmarked for the forward line...but yeah, centre halves (Edwards may well be good enough for some action, Zouma as well) full backs and wide players please!

I'd take Bridcutt.

I'd possibly take Danns. But I've had a few beers so

So far I have seen us linked with Bridcutt, Jake Wright (CD, Sheffield United, 33), and Stephen Dawson (33, Bury, CM). That would leave us with 9 further players we could sign, unless we let anyone depart. Lets hope the other 9 are wide players, forwards and full backs!

We have one loan (Earl) and a max of 8 - but only 5 can be in the squad.

I'm guessing we can sign realistically a max of 5 more loans. And I assume loans is priority today as frees can be done after.

Early rumours, all loans I think - Jake Wright (Sheff Utd) CB signed, Stoke City winger Thibaud Verlinden having a medical & Liam Bridcutt Forest also rumoured to be close to signing.

We can only sign loans or frees. And frees don't have to be done yet.

Daryl Murphy also rumoured from Forest.

That would complete our 5 loan spaces including Earl - I wonder if we might sign one other loan? Only 5 can be in any matchday squad.

We absolutely need a striker. Probably two (though I'd like to see Hall given a chance). Easily the most important signing we'll make. Murphy would be decent I think.

Murphy should be decent for the level we're at. I saw Leon Clarke mentioned earlier who would be a great signing imo but alas it appears he's off to Doncaster. Hill & Flickers have a tough sell on their hands in cases where players have options

Nah. We're Bolton Wanderers. Issue with Clarke is affordability.

Iles seemingly doesn't think there is much in Murphy. Which leaves us currently strikerless.

I'm unconvinced there will be a great striker option on a free transfer - interesting to see what Hillcroft do there.

I like the sentiment and under normal circumstances someone like Clarke would usually choose us over Doncaster. At the moment though, I'm not sure they would.

Listen I'm with you on realism and affordability. But we're a great club under new owners with a new manager and a fantastic stadium. We're going to lose out on many because we can't afford them or embargo blocks us, but plenty want to come here. We're slowly on our way back.

And it's 20yo Thibaud Verlinden. A winger on loan from Stoke.

Seems Stoke fans not too happy at that, reckon he should be playing for them..

Stoke fans are raging, which has to be a positive. Interestingly one of the issues is we are ‘rooted to the foot of league one’. It’s cos we’ve got a points deduction and had an embargo numb nuts!

Verlinden on loan till January. Wonder if the EFL are encouraging shorter term deals. Surely in normal circumstances it would be best to get season long loans? I guess the line of thinking could be that if we have no chance of staying up after half the games have been played we might as well play our own youngsters rather than loanees?

Not gonna get too excited just yet as I remember all the fanfare when Yanic signed for us last year

Wouldn't make sense to commit to longer deals necessarily for loans - see where we and players are in January. Also the EFL might be taking special measures as you say.

One rumour I heard - guessing won't be confirmed today - is that Buckley is very close to re-signing.
