I get where you're coming from, but, I mean, it has to be Stokes !
Don't forget that spell on Friday evening either. He was absolutely goosed at the end of it, 15 overs or so on the bounce, up at 87mph, with control and swinging it both ways. Phenomenal. What a summer that man is having!

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
The whole victory can be said to be a total team effort. Denly's unfortunate dismissal for throwing up a hand to protect his face, was the ultimate in bad luck after a fine innings, and what some didn't do with the bat against -aggressive bowling, they did elsewhere. Luck nearly always plays a part, whichever side gets it and thus it was. It's a two test Ashes now, "just as it should be" as Jane Austen would say..!

Ta. Wasn't letting me do that yesterday. Mind, I'd had a few at that point...Burnden Paddock wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 7:51 pm

When you think about it, that scrambled one run from Jack Leach, and the realisation that we couldn't lose the test was worth the super ovation in spades. Coming in at number 11 and doing what he did was pretty fantastic cricket. Hat off to you Jack..

Whoever's responsible at TfGM for these things is an absolute star

Fun fact update: we’re now 13 opening partnerships into this series and the highest remains 22. Not a good time to be an opener.

I finally got my wish to see Roy go in a four. Don't let me down now.

But they’ve also bumped your man Curran further down the pecking order!Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 11:44 amI finally got my wish to see Roy go in a four. Don't let me down now.

He’s on as a sub fielder at the moment! Maybe that’s what bruce means?BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 12:18 pmHe's not - that's the point.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 12:10 pmI'm just glad to see that Curran's getting a game.jimbo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 11:44 amBut they’ve also bumped your man Curran further down the pecking order!Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 11:44 amI finally got my wish to see Roy go in a four. Need to break this partnership reasonably quickly. A dangerous pair. Great start, but it isn't al about bumpers and busting the sound barrier. Smith, as well as being a top batsman, is clever.

Ah, I didn't think he was, but then saw him in the field. All makes sense now though.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 12:18 pmHe's not - that's the point.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 12:10 pmI'm just glad to see that Curran's getting a game.jimbo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 11:44 amBut they’ve also bumped your man Curran further down the pecking order!Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 11:44 amI finally got my wish to see Roy go in a four. Play abandoned for the day. Oz 170-3. Not too good a start for us. Smith still there.

That was quite honestly one of the worst captaincy decisions I've ever witnessed. I'm just bemused.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Assume you’re talking about Vilas bowling Livingstone in the 19th who’d been twatted to all parts before then, rather than Mahmood who’s been one of the standout bowlers this year? Have to think that’s cost Lancs dearly. The whole occasion last night was miserable, playing it up in Durham in an empty cold wet windy stdium!nicholaldo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 04, 2019 10:15 pmThat was quite honestly one of the worst captaincy decisions I've ever witnessed. BBC reporting that Smith's been dropped by Archer. I haven't seen it, but going off this description it sounds a little harsh to me.
Steve Smith bunts it straight back down the ground. Archer gets his hands across in his follow through, gets fingertips on it, but it bursts through and ends up trickling for four!

I've seen it on BBC website. It was a "chance" but not sure he got near it - fingers might have brushed the ball as it went past.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 11:14 amBBC reporting that Smith's been dropped by Archer. it came back sharpish - decent height, though... I think at this level he'll be disappointed not to have hung on... but I know I'd not have seen it until it had hit the boundary!

Just seen it too. To say that he 'dropped' him is way harsh, especially when you consider that he's on the follow-through from bowling.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 12:27 pmI've seen it on BBC website. Looks like we're going to have to do this the long way round as per the first test, whereby we accept that we're unlikely to get Smith out and concentrate on the rest.
