Yep, we’ll sign a couple more for sure.

Gary O Neill looks less certain I think now, which is a shame. But it’s Keith Hills team now.

I remember in October 2017 and after 11 games we had 2 points and looked completely out of our depth. Then Ameobi and Vela came back from injury, we had just signed Karl Henry, and in our next home game we beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 and for the first time looked remotely competitive. That ended in the memorable 3-2 final day miracle against Forest.

Lets see if we can top that....
I see it as requiring 68 points from the remaining games if we use last season as a benchmark.

4th bottom finished on 50 points last season. 3 point deduction for the 2 games missed. gives us a target of 51 to make sure.

Massive ask but not impossible. What I fear is this potential point deduction is hanging over us like a bad smell and the EFL could use it as a final bullet to push us down into League 2.

1.7 ppg average required.

2.25 ppg gets into the playoffs.
yeah baby! butter-side-up optimism is where I'm at! :pissed:

Just realised that if we play all our recent back-four signings they'll be (left to right) Joe, Jake, Jack and Josh.

Our kid's team when he was about 14 had a back four of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.

Did they concede many goals - was it quite a hol(e)y defence?

I think that we will get another 2 or 3 players in before the weekend, even though yesterdays signings were very good the squad as a whole is still not big enough, we've still only basically got a starting XI because we have a few out with injuries.

There is no game this weekend. Hill quoted today as saying no more recruitment till he's assessed the squad he's got.

We have 3 spaces left to fill but can add frees whenever now. Or wait till January - when we'll have to renew or lose the loan deals also.

Yes I know what they said, but I still believe that we will get another 2-3 in before or over the weekend....the squad is still to small IMO

Really quite surprised that he hasn't brought Gary O'Neil back in. Is he just not his type? I mean, I know he's 36 but then so's one of the forwards he's brought in.

Same. I guess one issue is in CM he's got Lowe, Weir and Murphy already - and added Bridcutt - which was absolutely a no brainer given his quality.

Plus hints he might play Buckley in midfield and Crawford can also play centrally as an attacking midfield player.

Its an area of the squad with loads of options.

Whereas other areas have only one senior option as it stands....

Interesting piece on The Athletic about our deadline weekend. Simon Marland's grandson helping out, no agents asking a fee.

James Weir - our only permanent incoming between last October and this September, and at 24 the only member of last night's squad whose age exceeded his shirt number - gently tiptoes away from the kids' team and endeavours to join the big boys. Good luck to him.

Numerous gossip sites suggesting we are about to offer, or already have offered a contract to Joe Dodoo.
