Wombling 3. AFC Wimbledon (H) 7.12.19 KO 3pm

Post by Harry Genshaw » Wed Dec 04, 2019 6:34 pm

A weeks break and a chance to put that awful day at Accrington behind us. A real 6 pointer this. Win and the earlier optimism will seem justified, lose and the first nail in our coffin will be getting sharpened. Who's going?

27th August 1983. Our first ever meeting with Wimbledon on the opening day. We won 2-0 but were on a downwards spiral. They won the FA cup 5 years later.

4-4-2 that day. How many of our line up do you remember? An internet pint to anyone who can get 9 or more!

Can't remember if I was at that game, but I went to the away game that season. George Oghani made his debut.

I’ll have a bash, as nobody else seems to want a go. Some are plain guesses from the era, admittedly.

^ 8! Good effort. 2 of your missing 3 are well known players from the time. The other most definitely is not :D

I agree that this is a now huge match and think our performance will tell us much what we can expect for the rest of the season. I'm anticipating a scrappy contest, possibly with whoever scores first winning.

1-0 to us.

Will be at the game today. If anyone goes to Missoula before the game, I'll be in there with Pops TKIZ!. I'll have the old Fiberlec sponsored shirt on. Looking like a stretched version of Ronnie Corbet, come say hello.

Not sure of the score, just want a good game, think it will be a draw

A swashbuckling 3-0 win with great footy would be awesome. I'll happily take a hard fought 1-0 MK Don's repeat though. Just win for Gods sake!

Zouma, Graham, Dodoo and Darcy in.

Bridcutt, LMurph, Earl (obvz) and T-Bone out, all big the latter entirely of the 18, which is so stretched it features Boon and Weir.

I'm feeling less confident now.

Although Darcy showed he had something about him early in the season before the gulf in experience and physicality between us and the teams we were playing against inevitably took it's toll. Let's hope he can be show even more with more capable players around him.

That's quite a weak team, especially in midfield. A win with that team today will be quite an achievement.

It will be interesting to see if Bridcutt & L Murphy are injured or have been dropped - if injured in training then Hill needs to seriously reduce the intensity of the training, because the amount of players getting injured in training is ridiculous especially knowing how low we are on available first team players.
