Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Its where England miss Archer big time. Flat pitch - need his pace to unsettle them. Our attack is benign in these conditions. Archer might have not taken wickets but some aggressive short spells may have led to a mistake even if indirectly.

Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Yep, absolutely needed Stokes to stand up.
IF all bowlers are fit for next test (Anderson might be out with a side strain) its a tough call for what to do and who to leave out. A really tough call.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Lol Ben Stokes. Never in doubt.

He may be a big Kock but he's no Ben Stokes!
I won't even mention Denly removing both the danger men, Worthy.

Just watched the highlights. Saw in the "presentations", Stokes was trying to give MotM award to Sibley. What a star.

Sometimes one MotM isn't enough. Sibley, Stokes and Anderson all deserved it. Stokes was too obvious to ignore. But Jimmy hung around with Pope to allow England to get 30 odd crucial runs first innings and took 7 in the match. Probably without him result would have been different.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Tue Jan 07, 2020 11:39 pmJust watched the highlights. Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Yeah big contributions from them all. Without Anderson’s 5 in the first innings we’re looking at a first innings deficit. Sibley then took the game away from South Africa, and Stokes moved the whole thing on another gear and dragged it into England’s hands, first with the bat and then with the ball. Really enjoyable performance and a really enjoyable test match.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 9:04 amSometimes one MotM isn't enough. Sibley, Stokes and Anderson all deserved it. Burnley Lara out for the rest of the series with his side strain. I have mixed feelings here. We all want to see a fit Jimmy doing what he does best, but I really think that we need to concentrate on developing and bringing the best out of Jofra Archer rather than squeezing the last few drops out of Anderson.

But we want him to get to 600 no? I think there is a place for Jimmy and Jofra in the side.Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 8:42 pmBurnley Lara out for the rest of the series with his side strain. I have mixed feelings here. He's getting better with age! Averages just over 20 since he turned 35. Don't understand the obsession in sport with getting rid of quality for youth as soon as possible. Plenty room to rotate bowlers to give Archer and Curran games. Up to them to use them to show they're better than Jimmy.

Indeed. Though Archer must play - the lad is something different, something else - and ingredient we've missed for years. He needs to develop consistency but its crucial we play him to let him do that.Prufrock wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2020 11:31 pmHe's getting better with age! Averages just over 20 since he turned 35. I like Curran - but if all are fit he misses out for me (might be a different story on green pitches in England).

That was the conclusion they came to prior to this test match on Sky Cricket channel. They had Curran down as the 4th Seamer...BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2020 3:26 pmIndeed. Lunch - for none. Last time I remember that, we were bowling.
Re: creeeeeeeekeeeeeet
Read someone saying the last time they remember us making lunch on the first day for none was Trent Bridge in 2015 .

Oh - 120 odd for 3 after Denly fails yet again (what a shock!!!!!).
If you cut Denly open you will see "20-40" all the way through him like a stick of rock.
