Narcos is the best thing I've seen on Netflix. Making a murderer and The Crown are really good too.officer_dibble wrote: ↑Mon Jan 25, 2021 10:29 pmGary the Enfield wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 4:09 pmI binge watched The Queen's Gambit over the weekend.
Recommended. Not your blood guts and gore nonsense. Just........good.
I must join in this thread more now I seem to have tele time back. Watched one of the serpent on the beeb. Not sold yet.
Netflix recommendations- fancy a decent series with a few seasons, summat breaking bad-y?
Top Boy on catch up is another I'd reccomend.
I should be looking for something else myself now but Sky Atlantic have just started to repeat the Sopranos again. This will be the 4th time I've watched it through. As someone (Pru?) said upthread, theres no better telly.

I rewatched it again last year. The best TV programmes I have ever watched, hands down, are the Sopranos and the Wire.
I massively enjoyed Succession, and think it's a contender to make it a Big 3, but need to rewatch it.

Twice I've tried The Wire on others recommendations and twice ive given up on it before the end of season one. I'm going to have to give it another go arent I?

It's definitely a slow burner and obviously I think with sticking with. If you get to the episode that's framed around D'Angelo teaching the kids about chess and you're not feeling it, it might not be for you. I think that's the bit where it really started to warm up for me. I think that's relatively early.

I dunno. I wasn't keen on Soprano's either. Don't think I'd give them "yet another go"Harry Genshaw wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 2:53 pmTwice I've tried The Wire on others recommendations and twice ive given up on it before the end of season one. I'm going to have to give it another go arent I?

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Best one I've seen in recent years was Gomorrah, an Italian language series on sky Atlantic set in Naples. Absolutely brilliant, much grittier and believable than some of the glamourised American ones. Never seem Sopranos despite meaning to.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Wed Jan 27, 2021 10:27 pmSorry! Currently alternating between Series 3 of Lilyhammer and The Night Manager, whilst awaiting the new series of Line of Duty
Oh, watched that thing that was supposedly set in Dundee but was filmed round here. Was OK, worth midweek watching, but was nowt particularly spesh.

We’ve just started watching ‘It’s a sin’. I was a little kid in the 1980’s so most of what it’s based on passed me by. An interesting and eye opening drama which I suspect may have me in tears by the end of it.

Think that was filmed round here I think, but haven't seen any. Watched the first two episodes of The Serpent. Gripping stuff made into excellent television, but awful watching it in the knowledge that it's all based on a true storyGooner Girl wrote: ↑Thu Feb 11, 2021 9:26 pmStill watching. It's a town in Scotland, but that's not important right now.LeverEnd wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 8:37 amWhat's that?Bruce Rioja wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 3:17 pmCurrently alternating between Series 3 of Lilyhammer and The Night Manager, whilst awaiting the new series of Line of Duty

Traces, or The Traces.
Also want to see 'The Dig'. Not sure if it's already started yet but Naga Mundoings was on about it this morning and it looks very interesting

The Serpent was excellent.
Started Its a Sin last night. The rimming scene 10 minutes in, I could have done without. Nearly put me off mi tea!

Re: What are you watching tonight?
Watched an adaption of the ABC Murders t'other week. John Malkovich as Poirot ( ) and Rupert Grint as a DI ( ). Found it hard to suspend my disbelief at the start but I actually warmed to it quite a lot in the end, very enjoyable.
Then watched the ITV adaptation of 'Murder on the Orient Express' the next evening. Great stuff. Free on youtube if any of you are interested.
Also been watching a French spy thing called 'The Bureau' on Amazon. Currently midway through series one, enjoying it so far. Probably a cross between Spooks and something also like Spooks.
