Is the thinking they'll come at us with last time in mind and being the home side,, or have they watched our current form and will sit back and park the bus and hope for a break? ... or other?

They've not won for ages, new manager has had 7 games no wins. He's a good manager I think but let's hope he comes good next week.

Perfect. Can’t say I’m surprised at no Maddison either.

Madison I thought would be the perfect sub to throw on when you're 2 up and cruising. I'm not sure in what circumstances I'd use him now.

I think zack is worth another shot personally. He was absolute lightning when he got in full stride. Maddison doesn’t work hard enough. Hopefully we get chance to give Zack another shot - might be another one available this summer.

I don’t think we’ll be considering signing Maddison at this point. He’s undoubtedly talented, but his work rate is too poor for an Evatt team. Hopefully Politic will also come back and reestablish himself in that position.

Aye politic, had forgotten him...
if Maddison can’t find his mojo in this team at this level it’s a worry for him...

Anyway I’m not worried about someone not in the Matchday squad. Up and at em whites from the off.

Surely Maddison's still in contention for signing. Would need to be an improvement on his performance and contribution in order for it to be worth our while. He looked to be contributing in the last match, hitting the post and nearly crossing the ball into the top corner so his efforts weren't completely wasted. The way the game changed and us throwing away possession was probably the catalyst for dropping him. I remember Chris Eagles doing exactly that, constantly shooting from unthreatening positions was just passing possession to the opposition, so I don't think that would help a player like Maddison.

Not been impressed by Elbouzedi, although IIRC he had a good debut. Would love to be proven wrong however.

There's an interview with Evatt in the BEN regarding Maddison. Fairly apparent that he's not been at the races so far. I'm not close enough to his past history to know whether he was good or bad. I've just taken in what I've seen.

My commentary is ahead of the picture. Even worse than normal.

Matt Gilks what is going on?

We're now going to see why we need a keeper on the bench.

Oh dear. Looks in some pain.

edit: Gingerly back up.

Aye seems to agree with some of posters that it's the off the ball work that is the problem...

Nervous moments for Gilks there. Hopefully he'll get through the game.

That Port Vale kit looks terrible.
