Confirmed as Sheehan. 2 years.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
I'd say that was centre-mids and centre-backs sorted now.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
Numbers wise but I feel we could still benefit from a big physical monster type in midfield. We are carrying Crawford and Comley and potential Darcy who may all fall outside IEs plans. I’d like someone who can do what MJ does ideally.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
A strong addition to midfield.
Ball carrier, box to box. Gonna be interesting to see Politic, Sarc and him with MJ sweeping up at the back.

Need a wide player before another attacking midfield player. A striker a wide player and perhaps one who can do both.irie Cee Bee wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 5:19 pmAgreed but some other priorities first.. Sheehan looks an excellent pro and clearly very good at League 2 level. Not sure he improves the first 11 though. Signings so far have been good for the squad and future, looking forward to a immediate improvement , straight into the first team type. That may be a last minute loan though.

You never know how these things work out. Probably the only position you could easily sign a player who you’d quickly argue was a big step up would be Isgrove or Dapo’s positions. Unless we pull off a blinder up front.LeverEnd wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 5:41 pmSheehan looks an excellent pro and clearly very good at League 2 level. Not sure he improves the first 11 though. I recon that with Dapo, Politic, Isgrove and Delf we do have wide players who can do a job. What we dont have is cover for Sarcevic. We struggled without him when he was injured so that position for me is more critical at the moment that the wide midfielder, not to mention also a CF. I would however agree that a good striker who can play wide would be awesome.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 5:25 pmNeed a wide player before another attacking midfield player. Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
I think Sheehan can be a straight in the first team player. He can be our best midfielder. Whether he will be or not depends on the structure we put in place around him. I went back and watched a lot of him over the weekend and I will post my thoughts this evening, if people think it's worth doing. He's a really interesting signing, for me.LeverEnd wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 5:41 pmSheehan looks an excellent pro and clearly very good at League 2 level. Not sure he improves the first 11 though. Interested in that yes! I don’t recall him much from the two games we played. Seems like a good signing if we can fit him in alongside MJ. Not sure how it works with him and Lee plus MJ. Hopefully Thomasongets chance to develop as well.

Always worth it, mate. For us, anyway, if not for you...GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Jun 07, 2021 5:50 pmI think Sheehan can be a straight in the first team player. He can be our best midfielder. Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
I think that was assuming Delaney re-signs.
Pleased with Sheehan. Think it's two from MJ him and Lee (who had always struggled with injuries). Thomason and Tutte giving cover. I'm happy with that.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
I rate Sheehan. Were he actually 6' like his bio says, and athletic with it, he'd be at least a Championship player. He's not, though, and the fact we gave him 2 years and not 3 is maybe telling there there are some doubts there. That could be due to his injury history, though.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
I haven't watched him play very often but he was very influencial in the matches I've seen. We were too ponderous in our forward play for large sections of last season. Hopefully Sheehan will help us improve on that.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
Really pleased with the Sheehan signing. Think he'll be a great player for us. If he looked good on the ploughed field of Rodney Parade, he'll look like Iniesta on the Unibol's billiard table.
In other news, Harry Anderson who's been linked with us previously wished Sheehan well. Which is strange as they don't seem to have ever played together - I'm struggling to see the connection between the two apart from the (potential) Bolton link

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
This is how I have our squad, in order of position and likely place in that position's pecking order, as of tonight:
Goalkeeper:
Matthew Alexander
Right-back:
Gethin Jones
Harry Brockbank
Left-back:
Liam Gordon
Centre-back:
Ricardo Santos
George Johnston
Alex Baptiste
Liam Edwards
Reiss Greenidge
Adam Senior
Central midfield:
MJ Williams
Josh Sheehan
Kieran Lee
George Thomason
Andrew Tutte
Brandon Comley
Attacking midfield:
Antoni Sarcevic
Ali Crawford
Ronan Darcy
Wide midfield:
Oladapo Afolayan
Lloyd Isgrove
Dennis Politic
Nathan Delfouneso
Forward:
Eoin Doyle
Obviously there will be some overlap, with certain players, especially the attacking and wide midfielders, capable of offering greater versatility than others, but I've tried to place them each in what I think is currently their best position.
I also make it that we have nineteen players qualifying for the rumoured twenty-two player registration limit. By my reckoning, we will probably attempt to move on, send on loan, or de-register at least three and possibly up to five of those. They are, in order of likelihood:
Reiss Greenidge
Brandon Comley
Liam Edwards
Ali Crawford
Liam Gordon
Goalkeeper:
