And what about the former Coventry lad - yay or nay?GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 1:37 pmOf all the strikers down at that level at the minute, he looks the most like he might add something we need. He is reasonably quick, without being lightning, and he has really good upper-body strength. Nice feet, can play one touch stuff and has lovely pass appreciation for a striker. Also works really hard.brommers95 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 12:30 pmThe other name was 23 year old Kabongo Tshimanga of Boreham Wood.
I'd honestly be fine with him. Might work or might not, but certainly worth some league club taking a punt on him.

Not seen a huge amount of him, to be honest. 6-8 games at most. Never seen anything from him to suggest he will score goals on a regular basis, but he makes space for other players.
He's huge and pretty fast, plus I seem to recall thinking he worked hard for the team. Maybe he's a player where if you watch him more you start to appreciate what he does?
I'd say he's certainly a "different option" signing and he has been part of a League One winning side, so he can't be god awful.

Probably worth mentioning that his modest goal tally is bolstered by pens.

Striker signing at 5. Assume it's Bakayoko

Really pleased with this signing, exactly the type of striker we need - big, pacy & powerful. I know a few Cov fans who all rate this guy.
Not prolific, but works his socks off and apparently is only 25 & has improved year on year at Cov. Very good signing IMO especially for League 1

Funnily enough, also began his career in the UK at Walsall.

This is the thing. He fits exactly the profile of striker we needed to stretch teams and give us an out ball. He just doesn't score enough goals.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 5:07 pmReally pleased with this signing, exactly the type of striker we need - big, pacy & powerful.
What I will say is that, from memory, he started his career as a winger and was basically moved up front because he was the right build. So he can shift with the ball at feet and even beat a man. I think if people are expecting a typical target man they will be disappointed. In his two main seasons with Walsall Simeon Jackson was their main striker and our new chap was either on the left wing or off the striker.
Other people will know better, but I'm expecting a League One (taller) version of Michail Antonio. Again, going purely off memory.

We don’t need a target man we need someone bigger with pace. And he seems ideal. Bar his goal record to date. Seeing his history he does seem like someone who could play in the front three wider too so adds versatility.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 5:17 pmThis is the thing. Right sort of player whether he is good enough time will tell.

Cov lads I know say he's a centre forward who plays down the middle.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 5:17 pmThis is the thing. Was for Coventry, yes, just like Antonio is now for West Ham - but he was a wide player too at one stage.Bertie Wooster wrote: ↑Fri Jun 25, 2021 5:23 pmCov lads I know say he's a centre forward who plays down the middle.
Walsall played with Jackson at the striker, Baka wide/off and Oztumer as a 10.
I only remember because when we signed the wee man I watched a lot of their games. Baka only played as a straight centre forward because Jackson was injured almost all the first half of the 17/18 season and ended up out on loan. Think they ended the season with Baka up top and Ozzy playing off him.

Like I say, I have only seen a handful of his games for Coventry, so if he is a radically different player now then fair enough.
