Over 600 Wanderers in attendance according to Mr Iles.

Re: Pre-season frendlies
Decent enough performance. Possibly a draw would have been the fairest result. Neither side created much. First half they played quite a few direct balls into and around our box but apart from one early header didn't really threaten. Like many times last season, we were a bit too pedestrian at times and guilty of trying to walk it in and then losing possession before getting a shot away.
2nd half was more of the same, with few chances created although Politic and Darcy were a bit more direct. They pressed hard in the last 10 minutes and Dixon made a good save from an overhead kick late on.
Positives- Baptiste and Brockbank were both solid. Williams still the most comfortable on the ball. It was a pleasure to see Doyle live and his movements off the ball, although he didn't get many touches. Dixons handling was fine. Crawford showed some good touches in his brief appearance. The sun shone and the pies must have been good because Burnden Paddock ate 2, the fat feck!
Not as positive - Thomasson didn't really get into the game, Lee was guilty of a few niggling fouls and Dapo had been quite poor in possession just prior to his goal.
Still, another win, another addition to overall match fitness and nice to tick off a new ground.

Playing Chorley tonight. Didn't even know. Leading 1-0 at the break from a Senior header.

Re: Pre-season frendlies
Was supposed to be an "XI", ie largely kids (new coach Sam Hird is in charge), but lack of gametime for some seniors forced a somewhat interesting XI:TANGODANCER wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 8:42 pmPlaying Chorley tonight. Didn't even know. Leading 1-0 at the break from a Senior header.
Hutchinson, Comley, Senior, Tutte, Gordon, Thomason, Lee, Crawford, Darcy, Fitzmartin, Politic (plus kids on bench)
Oh and the goal was a towering header from a Crawford corner...

Twitterati lauding young goalkeeper Hutchinson, but also plenty praising Comley’s performance at right-back. There’s something of a hole there if he wishes to fill it…
No Gilks, Aimson or Johnston again.. must now be close to doubtful for the first game in 10 days’ time.

Great to see players filling different roles. I like the idea of that. And young Darcy as the false number 9.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Tue Jul 27, 2021 9:39 pmTwitterati lauding young goalkeeper Hutchinson, but also plenty praising Comley’s performance at right-back. Need to test these things out as we are bound to be disrupted by Covid at times.
I’d suggest there is still time for those players if they are able to be involved Saturday. If not then….yeah might need to wait a bit.

Re: Pre-season frendlies
COVID and circumstance may force his hand bud I suspect ideally IE would want to pick his (current) best XI v Blackburn, with only a few late subs. Dress rehearsal conditions. Is it still five subs in the EFL this season? Think it was only a temporary measure…?

Cheers. I think with isolations there may be a few times clubs don’t fill their benches…TonyDomingos wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 9:33 amDave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Wed Jul 28, 2021 9:06 amCOVID and circumstance may force his hand bud I suspect ideally IE would want to pick his (current) best XI v Blackburn, with only a few late subs. Highlights of Chorley match, not a good angle but looked like Darcy bossing midfield.

Re: Pre-season frendlies
Thanks Brommer. Just how it looked: either that was well edited in favour of the Greens, or we weren't so hot? I know we played a lot of young lads, but, they opened us up like a tin of beans and better finishing would have had a few in our net.brommers95 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 29, 2021 5:13 pmExtended highlights of the Chorley game from Chorley's Youtube channel
