I thought he had retired actually? He’s moved back to North Yorkshire.

In other news, Huddersfield have released winger/forward Isaac Mbenza - didn’t quite overlap with Markham but I must admit it did make me think…

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
Iles reporting Comley (and presumably Edwards though he doesn't say) has been left out of our EFL squad, we've named 20 (out of 22). Seems to strongly suggest we're at least looking at a couple of free agents.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
Edwards is in, which strikes me as a triumph of hope over experience, but as you say the exclusion of Comley suggests we’re keeping other options open.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
Think it’s down to Comley going not that we are after free agents.
Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
I thought that but in the other side: 1) where? Window is shut down to at least League 2. Not impossible he'd go there I guess, and he's not going abroad. 2) why wouldn't we register him anyway. We'd still have one spot and if he goes it doesn't matter and if he stays he's at least there for an injury crisis.
Could still be that, but just seems a bit odd to me if so (suggests it's imminent, but then why not do it before the window shut a week ago?)

Going to non league I suspect. On a loan.Prufrock wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 10:43 amI thought that but in the other side: 1) where? Window is shut down to at least League 2. If we were looking at a free agent we'd know by now. Takes weeks to get them fit and we have according to Iles 3 spaces anyways in the squad. So Comley not being registered till Jan would only make sense if - we planned on signing 3 free agents OR he's off to non league for a few months.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
It’s an odd one. I’ve said before as BWFCi notes that any free agent who didn’t get a full preseason would now arguably be later to fitness than Bakayoko or even Amaechi. However, considering Evatt is on record as saying nobody will be booted out of the club, this exclusion seems a little odd. We excluded two in January but we had excess players then.
Comley going on loan to non-league would be a bigger deal than Gordon or a kid. He’s 26 soon. I also wonder whether his wages are relatively high, which might explain lack of D4 interest, but doesn’t suggest optimism for a non-league loan.
Worth noting too that he can still (for some crazy reason) play for us in the Sherpa Van Quasi-Reserves Trophy, although surely this would unnecessarily risk tying him up.
It’s odd. But it’s so odd that it makes me think other things are happening. Maybe there are non-contract players who we might sign soon for the longer term than just this Baka/Amaechi shortfall. Or maybe we’re keeping our options open for those players emerging by recently leaving clubs (a la Mbenza at Huddersfield, Serge Aurier at Spurs or Josh Parker at Burton); or those running out of options or simply tiring of the jobless life (the Sturridge/Wilshere types, although very probably not them specifically without significant financial change).

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
Edwards being registered is a real surprise. He'd be what, our seventh choice to play at centre back? Realistically I can't see any scenario when he features for us in the league.

Still some decent players out there - I guess that’s normally for a reason though...$$$.
I’m happy with the squad as it is and hopefully Baka and Amaechi are back before long, but if the right deal can be done there’s little harm in bringing another body in.
For example, I can’t help shake the feeling that having someone like Biamou would have been the exactly the sort of physical presence to help guide at least one of our 40 crosses into the Burton net.

I note that Chris Markham follows you on Twitter, so surely it's only a matter of time before you're doing this in a professional capacity.

Re: Summer 2021 Transfer Thread.
I would like us to add another option but all the noises from the club suggest IE won't.
Update today is Aimson back in contention. John back. Sheehan straight back into squad and Baka and Xav 'making good progress' but no timescales yet for them.
My guess is one of those players will be back for start of next month and that's what we'll wait for.

https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/1 ... back-camp/Baka is making progress all of the time, Xav is making progress all of the time, so at the moment we are OK. I don’t want to set a timeframe on them at the moment because I don’t think that’s fair but they are doing well.
[on registrations] We have gone with players we think will affect the first team. It doesn’t mean he can’t play for us in the cup competitions but for now that is what we have chosen to do.
It gives Liam that carrot to get himself back ready, fit and available. We hope he can do that.
But this isn’t the end for Brandon, either, like anyone else he has to get his head down and work hard, as he does to be honest, and get himself into the plans.
