FT 0-4. Another nil in the wrong column. Another absence of nil in the right one.

Not scoring today is the least of our troubles. We looked closer to Chelsea or Man City under Megson or Sammy Lee than we did to Wigan today. Honestly it was the worst I’ve seen us play since a Coyle capitulation like the Wembley one. It was unacceptable on every level. I demand a full apology from Evatt for that.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 4:53 pmFT 0-4. Another nil in the wrong column. Another absence of nil in the right one.

Well, given our lack of right backs I mean.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 4:47 pmNo he didn’t. Brockbank is non league. Let’s not pretend otherwise.
You're right about his standard though, always seemed a sentimental contract award. Need to loan him out somewhere and get another right back.

Easy now. Of all the pre-match discussions of right-back, only Prufrock sounded a note of worry (and even he hedged with the possibility of poor Harry scoring the winner).BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 4:47 pmNo he didn’t. Brockbank is non league. Let’s not pretend otherwise.
Most of us were a little worried but this feels like post-facto well-obviously.
I still think Harry can be a decent fourth-tier defender but probably not for a team that asks a lot of its backs.
We need to strengthen in January.

Oh, quite. But not scoring in seven of our last 10 is a pretty major worry.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 4:55 pmNot scoring today is the least of our troubles.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 4:53 pmFT 0-4. Very intrigued to see Tuesday’s team selection, and not it’s cos I’m investing time and money in it…

Well that were feckin shite
2nd best all over the park. We looked outnumbered in every area of the pitch and several players had stinkers.
In a derby, in front of what will probably be our biggest crowd of the season. Christ, I'm peed off.

A reality check. Wigan are miles ahead of us. Not even close. We were outclassed all over the pitch!! Yes, I thought Brocky was lucky to get a contract and this proves it. Baka should not have started, very rusty and coming from a long lay-off. Sheehan, Sarce and MJ just never existed. Saw more of Thomasson in his few minutes than any of them the whole game. Dapo made to look ordinary. Did Doyle touch the ball?? The best team in the Division? no Sir. Mid Table at best. Like I said, a reality check for us all.

Until Evatt wakes up and realises we aren’t good enough to just play teams off the park week in week out and changes how we play to suit the situation we will struggle. Santos out on Tuesday I think as he was carded. But you can’t keep leaving MJ in on his own. And we aren’t good enough to counter a strong team with a good press so need to go more direct.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 5:11 pmOh, quite. The manager is the problem right now. Living in dreamland. Two games and we’ve barely created a chance in them. Sheffield Weds and today. We had lots of the ball last weekend but didn’t do anything with it. Today we’ve seen how many players off promotion we are. Answer is 11.

I must have missed this, did Evatt really say we were the best team in the league?

I’m not making excuses. We lost to the better team but we should have had a penalty at 0-1. I’m not saying that would have got us any points from the game but the comment last aimed at IE are disgusting. He’s said the wrong things in the media before, he’s very young and he will learn. I think we need to count ourselves lucky that we have a progressive, young manager that plays attractive football. Give him a free-pass today, he’s deserves it.

Aye, after Sheff Wed. He says a lot of things - it’s a bit like monkeys and typewriters - but a journo was savvy enough to ask the Wigan manager for his opinion on that, and a story is born.

Aye. I can understand anger. He needs to learn, and he’s shown he can (see Phoenix-tossing, Crellin-dropping, January-strengthening, formation-switching, etc and so on). I understand anger and folks have a right to rant. They ranted last autumn, too.enrdentw wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 5:26 pmI’m not making excuses. Agreed. He's still learning but we're lucky to have him and he will be successful here, I'm sure. He deserves a shoeing for that performance today though!enrdentw wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 5:26 pmI’m not making excuses. We lost to the better team but we should have had a penalty at 0-1. He shouldn’t get a free pass IMO - best team in the league just got mauled at home…yet another game we haven’t scored in and we always concede. Needs to learn.
Re: Bolton v the 3.14159265359....eaters 16-10-21
It’s not like we didn’t create anything today, we had decent chances, hit the crossbar, should have had a penalty. Let’s face it, we were missing Jones and John who are key to how we play and when we are playing the best we need our best. I hope today and the aftermath doesn’t ruin our confidence.

Aye, Declan John. Good point. Starting to wonder if it’s going to become obvious why he never played anywhere else. Very disappointing so far.

Ha! Sadly, not even that - not per Press Association/BBC stats, anyway. Stalled at 9.Worthy4England wrote: ↑Sat Oct 16, 2021 4:51 pmLook on the bright side. We we double figures in shots!
On a similar topic, the only team in the division with fewer shots on target today than our two was Crewe, who lost 3-0 and are second-bottom. Difficult days.
