Re: Loan Watch
I’d take him on our bench over Delf right now.
Re: Loan Watch
If we struggle for a bit and he does well there hell definitely benefit from 'absence makes the heart grow fonder'.
He can certainly finish, which is something we are clearly lacking. The more we keep drawing blanks, the more his possible deficiencies off the ball will recede in people's minds.

Re: Loan Watch
He’s not signed a new contract anyway, so it seems far from certain he’ll be sticking around. Great goal, though.

Politic in the League 2 team of the week this past weekend. Some comments from the Port Vale corner of th e internet
Yay?
I'd absolutely love it if we could sign Politic.
He's a talented maverick. The fans seems to have taken to him already.
I was a little concerned we didn't have that 'special' player at the start of the season, someone that can turn a game with individual brilliance, like JMW used to do in our promotion season.
But he just looks a bit "too good" for L2 sometimes and looks like that player!
Signing Politic would be a steal, even with a fee involved. Exactly the type of player we need, somone who would still shine in the league above.
etc etc.Politic was just sauntering around, going where he wants when he wants. Great talent and I would hate to have him against us.
Yay?

Re: Loan Watch
IF he's underage and doesn't count to squad cap and continues in this form then bringing him back January is a no brainer considering where we sit right now. I guess he's probably not a starter for us immediately so its just a question of how much that hurts his development.KeyserSoze wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 11:16 amPolitic in the League 2 team of the week this past weekend. Yeah I guess that's the thing, he isn't really going to supplant our left winger in the starting XI on returning. Interesting to read a comment about Dapo being down the middle yesterday though.
But yes, if he is playing as well as suggested then it would be good to see him back for the arse-end of the season.

Re: Loan Watch
You want players to come on and change things, try things. Dennis at his best has that. I don't know whether he's good enough for League One but let's be honest, he feels more likely to change a game than Delf.

Re: Loan Watch
Yeah I think he offers more in front of goal potentially than quite a few we have. As you say its the level and can he mix it here really. Because whilst he's played a few games up here in a terrible side I personally thought he was a bit lightweight. But I'd probably have him in an attacking role ahead of Delf or even Sheehan. But lots of questions. I suspect we won't see him back in January tbh. Evatt will look elsewhere is my hunch.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 11:35 amYou want players to come on and change things, try things. Dennis at his best has that. Encouragingly, Delf looked decent when he came on. Maybe he can contribute after all.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 11:35 amYou want players to come on and change things, try things. I don't know if Dennis can play on the right, but I'd have him over Kachunga any day. Haven't really seen enough of him, but given we've no chance of going up, I'd be all for bringing him back to give him a chance to prove himself.

Re: Loan Watch
Surely it's a no-brainer to recall him in Jan? Offer him a multi-year deal, and if it doesn't work out the second half of this season we will likely have plenty of suitors to take him of our hands.

Re: Loan Watch
Dennis was one of our better players wasn't he in League 1, just prior to the season being cut short? If he comes back from his injury as good as before, I've no doubts about him being good enough. Fitting him in could present a problem but it wouldn't be a bad problem to have.Dave Sutton's barnet wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 11:35 amYou want players to come on and change things, try things. Re: Loan Watch
You'd imagine it makes sense to bring him back. But there is a contract offer on the table he hasn't signed yet.
I can only think the reason Evatt wouldn't bring him back is either that DP wants away OR that IE doesn't see him playing much here second half and his development would be harmed by taking him out of PV.

Re: Loan Watch
Contract might be for only one year and/or low wages. Perhaps Dennis is wagering that if he plays well at Vale he'll get a better offer from us or elsewhere, which is probably right.BWFC_Insane wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 12:54 pmYou'd imagine it makes sense to bring him back. Re: Loan Watch
More chance of getting a better contract offer from us if he comes back and impresses the manager every day in training.
I once used a phrase about Glen Johnson at relegation-bound West Ham "shining like a stainless steel spoon in shite". That reminds me of Dennis in our last third-tier campaign - a tallest-dwarf compo.
That said, I do believe the boy has ability, and considering he's starting to show it at Port Vale, and we trained him, and we own him, and as an underage player he doesn't take up a squad space, and we aren't exactly demolishing the division, right now I'd be in favour of his return.
Re: Loan Watch
Wonder if we can immediately recall, or only in January?
If Dapo is out at any point then our blunt-knife attack turns to rusty-spoon attack, to borrow clumsily from DSB's cutlery metaphor.
Politic may be the only other player who can do something unexpected on our books.

Think you can only recall in a window. But yeah, Dennis has a touch of the Dapos.

Re: Loan Watch
If we can't recall him until Jan you'd imagine we will look at the market more than Dennis. I desperately want the academy lads to do well, but he has only just got himself into the team at Vale and we're unlikely to bank our promotion drive (as Evatt will see it) on him.
The trouble Dennis has is he's unlikely to be recalled to drive us up the leagues and if we did manage to go up he's unlikely to be seen as a key part of a Championship squad. You can understand him holding fire on the new deal until he sees how things look.

Re: Loan Watch
I'm not sentimental about it, as I've rarely seen him play, so if we can get someone better then great.GhostoftheBok wrote: ↑Mon Oct 25, 2021 2:08 pmIf we can't recall him until Jan you'd imagine we will look at the market more than Dennis. I think Dennis has gone out there to get fit, he has done that. We get him back 1st Jan and have a look. Hopefully it ends in a new contract at our place, cos he has earned one.
